Goals, highlights and the table after Man City draw, Forest win

Five games took place in the Premier League on Saturday, with a prize of fourth position on offer for the winners of Manchester City’s home game against a Brighton & Hove Albion team on a run of six successive wins in all competitions.

Third-placed Nottingham Forest travelled to Ipswich Town, who were six points from safety, and Bournemouth hosted Brentford with the chance to go sixth.

Elsewhere, Everton hosted West Ham in a meeting between two sides well clear of danger and fourth-bottom Wolves headed to rock-bottom Southampton.

101GreatGoals.com looks back on Saturday’s action in the Premier League, including goals, scorers and the table before Arsenal host Chelsea and Tottenham visit Fulham (both 1.30pm GMT) and Manchester United travel to Leicester City (7pm) on Sunday.

Man City v Brighton: Two goals apiece in thriller

Two of the division’s most entertaining sides did not disappoint. After Kaoru Mitoma had an early goal disallowed for Brighton, Erling Haaland’s penalty put City ahead, Pervis Estupinan equalised with an exquisite free-kick and Omar Marmoush hammered the reigning champions in front again before the break.

Abdukodir Khusanov’s 48th-minute own goal ensured the contest ended 2-2, although Nico Gonzalez sent a header against a post for City and Carlos Baleba then missed a glorious opportunity to give the visitors a first ever away win in the fixture.

Ipswich v Nottingham Forest: Town misery continues

Ipswich are the only team in England’s top four divisions not to have won in 2025, losing 4-2 to Forest courtesy of Nikola Milenkovic’s opener, two goals by a satisfied Anthony Elanga before half-time and one from Jota Silva in the 87th minute.

Jens Cajuste had pulled one back to make it 3-1 five minutes earlier and George Hirst netted the final goal of the game in the 93rd minute for The Tractor Boys, who are now nine points from safety. Forest cemented their position in the top four and moved a point behind second-placed Arsenal.

Bournemouth v Brentford: Bees do the double

Brentford came from behind to beat Bournemouth for the second time this season, recovering from Vitaly Janelt’s 17th-minute own goal to earn a fifth successive away win through Yoane Wissa’s swift headed reply and Christian Norgaard’s second-half strike.

The Cherries, who almost retook the lead when they hit the crossbar through Antoine Semenyo, are ninth, a point behind Aston Villa and three short of Brighton and Newcastle. Brentford, in 11th, are three points further back.

Southampton v Wolves: Larsen goals lift Wanderers

Wolves look increasingly certain of safety after pulling well clear of Ipswich with the help of Jorgen Strand Larsen’s first-half header and second-half finish.

Half-time substitute Paul Onuachu replied after Tyler Dibling’s shot hit a post, but Southampton have now lost nine consecutive home games and are closing in on relegation, with a near-insurmountable 17-point deficit on Wolves.

Everton v West Ham: O’Brien extends Toffees’ run

Jake O’Brien’s close-range equaliser in the 91st minute extended Everton’s unbeaten league run to nine matches as their promising form continued since the reappointment of David Moyes, who left West Ham at the end of last season.

A fine finish from Tomas Soucek gave the Hammers a 67th-minute lead, and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made several excellent saves. Both teams remain on 34 points, with the Toffees 14th and West Ham 16th.
