Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini commented on the team’s performance in their defeat with Inter.
“The goal we conceded? In that instance Hermoso follows my instructions, he did the right thing coming out. We shouldn’t have done an offside, especially on Bonny. We shouldn’t have taken any risks; we could have taken him; it wasn’t a dangerous situation. It was the start of the match, and perhaps we hadn’t taken the right measures.”
“The incident determined the match. I’m disappointed about the defeat, but regardless of the incidents, I’m confident we’ll do well.”
“In the second half we tried a little bit of everything. We were playing against a strong team. There are defeats, however, that give you something in terms of confidence.”
“The defense worked well again this evening. Wesley had a great game on the left, as did Celik on the right. We had momentum on the wings, something we’ve had less in other games. Ndicka and Hermoso are both left-footed; I prefer Hermoso to come out elsewhere.”
“There are a lot of right-footed players who play on the left; with two left-footed players out of three, we had to play on the right. But that had nothing to do with the goal.”
“You emerge from these defeats with something more in terms of conviction. We’re convinced we’ll do well this year; if you play like this against Inter, it means you have a chance of doing well.”
