The late Bob Saget has been remembered by his Full House cast mates four years on from his death. In January 2022, the showbiz world lost one of its most beloved characters when the 65-year-old’s body was found in his Ritz-Carlton hotel room in Orange County, Florida. An autopsy report eventually revealed that the comic actor passed away from blunt head trauma, most likely from a fall that had later killed him in his sleep.
Between 1987 and 1995, Saget portrayed Danny Tanner in the aforementioned ABC sitcom; a recently widowed father-of-three who seeks help from his brother-in-law and best friend to raise his daughters in San Francisco. Netflix released a sequel series, titled Fuller House, in 2016, which ran for five seasons.
Posting a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, co-star John Stamos wrote on the four-year anniversary yesterday (January 9):
“Missing Bob feels like standing in a quiet room after the laughter stops. Your ears still ring with what was there, but the sound is gone. The heart of it is gone. It’s empty. It’s not a sharp pain. It’s a low hum. Soft. Constant. Something you carry until everything gets quiet.
“Missing someone is love with nowhere to go. So it sits beside you. It waits. Hoping they’ll walk back through the door and the laughter will start again. 4 f****** years. Can’t believe it. I miss you, Bob.”
Bob Saget Gave David Coulier “Such Great Memories” For Rest of His Life
David Coulier, who played Joey Gladstone in Full House, recalled receiving a call from Stamos to tell him that their close friend had died. His own Instagram tribute read: “I didn’t know how to react or process such devastating news. I cried. That’s all I could do. I felt so helpless as the stark reality hit me — there would no longer be those crazy funny voicemails from Bob that would go on for many minutes, making me laugh for the rest of my day.
“Me, John and Bob would no longer get to be The Three Stooges or laugh so hard that we had to leave the room. The world lost my brother 4 years ago. Sometimes I still pick up my phone and want to call to tell him something funny or how much I love him. Our relationship was funny, silly, stupid, immature and filled with love. I have no one else like Bob in my life, but he’s given me such great memories for the rest of it. To say that I miss him is an understatement. To say to the world about how much I loved him is exactly what Bob would’ve wanted. I love you Bob.”
D.J. Tanner actress Candace Cameron Bure made sure to mark that dreadful day on the calendar too, writing: “I miss you. Not just today, but every day,” alongside a white heart emoji. “It’s strange to live in a world where Bob’s voice exists only in memory,” contributed Kimmy Gibler star Andrea Garber, adding in her emotional passage: “I never imagined him being this quiet, even in death. I hope he knows how often we talk about him here. How deeply he is loved. Every single day. Grief is the price of deep love. And I carry it every day with gratitude for the ones I miss.”
