Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo has revealed why he opted to snub interest from other clubs in favour of completing a switch to Old Trafford.

After weeks of chasing him, United finally announced Mbeumo’s arrival earlier this week.
At the start of June, Mbeumo made it clear that his wish was to only join United if he were to depart Brentford. The likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all expressed an interest in signing him but he was not keen on them.
United had two opening bids for the Cameroonian rejected, as Brentford kept hiking his price, protracting talks even further.
At one point, it seemed there was a real danger of the transfer collapsing but buoyed by Mbeumo’s desire to join, the Red Devils launched a third and final offer, which was accepted by the Bees.
United will pay a fixed fee of £65m, plus an additional £6m in add-ons based on team and individual performance.
During the announcement of his signing, Mbeumo expressed his excitement at joining United and helping restore the club to its past glories.
He travelled with his teammates to the United States for pre-season, so it’s only a matter of time until supporters get the chance to see him in action.

Mbeumo on why he chose United
Mbeumo sat down with club media and explained why it was only United for him and no other team.
The 25-year-old said, “From the start, I wanted to join this massive club. Now I’m here, I’m just really happy. For me, it’s the biggest club in the world. The fans are crazy, the stadium is amazing, and every player wants to play here.”
Asked where his love for United comes from, Mbeumo answered, “My first top was Manchester United’s top with Ronaldo behind. It’s just such a big club and I’m really happy to be here.”
He however noted that the project outlined to him by Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox also convinced him that United was the best place for him.
“He [Amorim] seems really close to his players. His mentality, his winning thinking every time, this is the thing I need.”
“I always wanted to play at the highest level. Now I’m here and I just want to show what I can do.”
Mbeumo netted a career-high 20 Premier League goals last season. Only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak found the back of the net on more occasions than him.
