‘Fallout’ Fans Need to Watch These 6 Action Shows

Although Fallout is an excellent adaptation of the popular video game, these action TV shows are better. Season 1 of the Prime Video series became available for streaming in April 2024, and Fallout fans got great news when Season 2, Episode 1 arrived on December 17th, 2025, which was one day before the planned premiere. The story blends a brutal post-apocalyptic setting with the moving journey that Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) goes on to locate her dad, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan). Season 2 has a high Rotten Tomatoes score and, so far, is pleasing viewers and critics who waited over a year for more episodes.

Even though fans are enjoying Fallout Season 2, these other action TV shows can’t be ignored, and they do a few things better, too. From another great video game adaptation to a Paramount+ series with major star power, these series are perfect for those seeking out big adventures, battles, and twists.

Peacock

If Fallout feels true to the video game franchise it’s based on, Twisted Metal might be an even more exciting TV adaptation. The Peacock series, which premiered in 2023 and has had two seasons so far (with a third coming), is a strange, creative story with a wild tone that is a lot of fun.

Twisted Metal arguably offers up a more terrifying take on the apocalypse than Fallout because it’s somewhat grounded in reality. While no one would want to be caught in Fallout Season 2’s Vaults, it’s hard to imagine those could actually exist. In contrast, criminals roam free in the world of Twisted Metal, and if the world as we know it ended, it feels like this could really happen. The Peacock show also

beats Fallout in the fascinating villain category. Who wouldn’t want to watch Sweet Tooth, a clown driving an ice cream truck, terrorize people?

‘Jack Ryan’

Tom Clancy’s book series Jack Ryan has been adapted several times, but the Prime Video four-season series is the best adaptation, thanks to John Krasinski’s movie star charisma and charm. Viewers and critics have praised Krasinski’s portrayal of a CIA analyst hired in the Terror, Finance, and Arms Division. His obvious fears and moments of anxiety, coupled with his desire to do well in his new profession, are present in each scene, which makes his journey interesting.

Jack Ryan arguably appeals to a larger viewership than Fallout, whether viewers tune in because they loved watching Krasinski as Jim Halpert on The Office or appreciate his horror franchise, A Quiet Place. While most Fallout viewers likely played the game and are therefore familiar with its world, it’s possible to watch Jack Ryan without having read Clancy’s novels or having watched any of the five movies.

‘The Boys’

The Boys and spinoff Gen V aren’t flawless, but there’s no getting around how much fun it is to watch both shows. The epic story about evil business Vought International and complicated characters like Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), who fight the villains called “Supes,” is ending with Season 5, which will arrive on Prime Video in April 2026.

Fallout is no doubt considered one of the many great video game adaptations, and there’s no denying that spending time in the fascinating world of New Vegas in Season 2 is a wild ride. Still, it’s hard to deny the appeal of The Boys, which blends humor with political commentary and has a strong message about good vs. evil without being preachy or irritating. While Fallout has a memorable and scary post-apocalyptic setting, The Boys is a creative take on superhero storytelling. That counts for a lot, considering the many generic superhero stories out there.

‘Lioness’

Lucy is tough, but Lioness has two main female characters who could win in any fight, which makes it a more gripping and entertaining action series than Fallout. It’s a joy to watch CIA agent Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña), who is in charge of the Lioness program, and Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira), who is a member of the team. The Paramount+ series from Taylor Sheridan was renewed for Season 3, and considering Saldaña and De Oliveira’s amazing performances, it’s easy to see why.

There’s no denying how much fun it is to see Walton Goggins as The Ghoul in Fallout. However, Lioness also has several famous and talented cast members, including Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman. Sheridan’s knack for balancing dramatic personal storylines with action scenes is front and center in Lioness. While he, of course, found massive success with his Western Yellowstone, Lioness is a reminder that he can tell stories across several genres, including crime dramas like Tulsa King.

‘Reacher’

Reacher can’t be left out of any discussions about epic action series. If it’s tough to make a TV show feel the same as a video game, it’s just as tricky to craft a smart TV show based on a beloved series of novels. Reacher is adapted from Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series, with Alan Ritchson in the main role, and fans have been waiting for Season 4 for a while now.

While the series is as intense as Fallout, Reacher makes for an even more entertaining binge-watch thanks to its storytelling format. Each season is eight episodes, and as Ritchson’s action hero faces a different crisis each time, every episode follows a comforting formula. Fallout can be watched more slowly, so you can piece together all the intricate details and connections and pick out familiar aspects of the game. Reacher moves at a fast clip and should be watched quickly, too.

It’s hard to talk about any great action series without heaping even more praise on 24, Fox’s singular series that premiered in 2001 and ran for nine seasons. Fallout‘s protagonist, Lucy Maclean, is a great, strong, and smart character, but will she be considered an iconic piece of popular culture in the near future? There’s an argument to be made that she should be, especially thanks to Ella Purnell’s confident performance, but it’s hard to know. In contrast, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is definitely an action hero who can never be replaced.

As every episode of 24 takes place in real time, the series was game-changing and fascinating when it originally aired, and it still feels important to the genre now. No matter how much fun it is to watch Fallout and learn more about the Vaults, the storytelling format isn’t as unique.
