The release of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has been surrounded by controversy due to the game’s poor PC optimization. The developers have now issued an apology and are offering several free cosmetics to specific owners, as well as outlining a path for future performance updates. Wuchang has been plagued with unstable frame rates, crashes, and other general stability issues since release, and Leenzee and 505 Games are now taking action.
In a Steam news update, the developers have issued another apology, writing: “First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone for their continued patience…” Additionally, Deluxe Edition owners will be getting three sets of skins and four weapons, in addition to the original compensated costume. Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition owners will also receive three additional headwear cosmetics, regardless of platform.
Wuchang Devs Offer Free Cosmetics
More customization Inbound
The Tiger of Fortune armor set was a Deluxe Edition incentive, and now, more cosmetics are going to be given for free to Deluxe Edition owners on PC, as the Wuchang developers are on a rather lengthy road to redemption. The latest update for the game addressed some of the performance issues, but the game is still plagued by performance issues stemming from its poor optimization with Unreal Engine 5.

Additional cosmetics for other players on PlayStation or Xbox, in addition to PC, is a nice apology, overall. There wasn’t a specific release date mentioned in the news update, but the developer’s message reads: “We will provide a comprehensive explanation about the game content soon.” Wuchang already offers a lot of player customization, and is also available on Xbox Game Pass, but even so, more free content is never a bad thing.
Wuchang Has Serious Performance Issues
There’s A Lot To Address
While free cosmetics, an apology, and a promise to make it right with fans are all nice sentiments, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers still has numerous performance issues that need addressing. First impressions are everything, so the game’s reputation is at stake, depending on how timely these issues are fixed and if they improve the game. The developers laid out the following points they will be addressing soon:
- Fix crashes across different devices
- Improve frame rates and reduce lag on certain graphics cards
- Optimize default settings for some graphics cards
- Correct the speed of getting up after being knocked down
- Reduce damage and the number of some traps
- Lower impact resistance of certain low-level monsters
- Reduce exploration pressure in some areas
- Fix issues caused by missing items leading to quest interruptions
- Improve AI logic for monsters and bosses
- Enhance texture quality in low-resolution areas
- Improve asset detail and precision in some regions
All of that sounds great on paper, and as popular as Soulslikes are in 2025, this news should please most fans. Still, it’s a bummer that the game was released in this state at all, and free cosmetics and promises might not be enough to bring back some Wuchang: Fallen Feathers fans.
