Emily In Paris Actor Discusses “Curveball” and Alfie’s Love Life

Emily in Paris star, Lucien Laviscount, who portrays Alfie Peterson, revealed that there will be a major “curveball” in the first episode of season 5. He also teased Emily’s (Lily Collins) jealous side coming out in the new installment.

Laviscount told Us Weekly during an interview that after he watched the premiere episode of Emily in Paris season 5, he was in shock. Despite being a part of the cast and knowing well beforehand what was going to happen, the actor stated that he still needed a few days to process what he had watched. “I don’t want to give away too much, but one thing I will say is … when I got episode 1 emailed over with their high-tech security … it took me about two or three days to kind of process.”

He said that it was very overwhelming to see everything unfold before his eyes. However, as chaotic as the first episode was, everything in it was necessary because all the events set up the remainder of the season perfectly. “So much happens in the first episode that sets up the rest of the season. And it was definitely a curveball for me and for Alfie,” he explained.

Laviscount also mentioned that there would be some surprising developments regarding the love triangle between Emily, Alfie, and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). Although things didn’t end up working out for Alfie or Gabriel, and Emily is now dating Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), the actor said that viewers shouldn’t count his character out just yet.

He said that Alfie was still “in the mix” and teased that Emily’s jealous side could pop up since his character had started to date someone else. “It’d be interesting to see if she did get a bit jealous this season, and who she was jealous about,” he teased. Laviscount also heavily implied that romance was in the air for him, “Regarding Alfie’s new love interest that kind of pops up in season 4, I can’t say anything. This is the worst thing about it, but … there’s love in the cards for Alfie, I think, this season.”

Emily in Paris season 5 will be released on December 18, 2025, on Netflix.
