Anthony Elanga is undergoing his medical at Newcastle after the Toon made a massive £55 million offer to Nottingham Forest that was accepted this week.
The Sweden international was a key player for Forest last term, registering six goals and 11 assists in 38 Premier League appearances, helping the Tricky Trees qualify for the UEFA Conference League.
The Athletic report that the deal consists of an initial fee of £52m, plus bonuses that are “considered difficult to reach”. The is now undergoing his medical with the Toon before an announcement is made by all involved.
Sky Sports News report that the “finer points” of the deal need to be sorted. Elanga is said to be “excited” about the prospect of Champions League football next season.
IcFootballnews Says…
Elanga was such a threat for Forest last season, they surely did not want to lose a player that was so vital for the club last campaign, but the money was far too good too turn down and that is why he is leaving.
He will add some more quality to the wings of Newcastle and make them even more dangerous in attack, it is a very good bit of business from boss Eddie Howe as he seeks to add players to the side that can make a real difference.
Newcastle have not yet really got going in the transfer market this summer and will need to add some more players to the side in key areas, as that Champions League schedule will alot out of their stars.
But Newcastle fans will surely he happy with the signing of Elanga, he was very impressive last season for Forest.
CALVERT-LEWIS TALKS?
It is now reported that Newcastle United are in talks with Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they seek to add a new striker to the attack over the course of the next few months.
Toon boss Eddie Howe and the Toon have been regularly linked in the past with the striker and last month Dominic Calvert-Lewin said his ambition was to play for a club that could offer Champions League football.
Newcastle United had been in talks with Callum Wilson about a new short-term deal with his contract also having ended on 30 June 2025. However, no successful conclusion on those talks so far, with the deal on offer claimed to be a pay as you play contract, with Callum Wilson having had ongoing injury issues
The now former Everton striker is a free agent after his Goodison Park deal ended on 30 June 2025 and Talksport say their information is that talks are now taking place between Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Newcastle United.
IcFootballnews Says..
Calvert-lewin has been plagued by injuries over the past few seasons that that 30 goals a seaosn striker is nothing more than a bench warmer, and a player that would struggle to make much on an impact at the Toon.
However – Newcastle wants to replace Callum Wilson and adding Calvert-Lewin to the side may be a good idea of they can keep him fit, he will not cost alot of money in terms of wages and obviously wont cost anything in terms of transfer fees.
It will be interesting to see if this move happens as Calvert-lewin wants to stay in the Premier League and as cover for Alexander Isak, he could be a decent option that is for sure.
MADUAKE CHANCE
Chelsea have revealed their financial demands to let Newcastle United and Arsenal target Noni Madueke go this summer window amid speculation that the winger could be making a move away from the club at some point this transfer window
The 23-year-old recorded 16 goal contributions in 41 games in all competitions last season, but has been linked with a surprise £50million move to Arsenal and Newcastle over the past few weeks
Chelsea have been doing alot of transfer business over the past few weeks and after bringing in Joao Pedro from Brighton and Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, the Blues are looking to free up some space in that attack, if you believe all the reports in the media.
But despite the reports, clubs haven’t spoken with the Blues and haven’t offered a contract to Madueke, and the reality is that Arsenal or Newcastle have not sent any proposal to Chelsea for Madueke as of this week.
But according to The Telegraph, the Blues are expecting offers of more than £50million for Madueke and they will not be letting the attacker go for anything less than that valuation after the season he has just had.
But amid all the speculation and rumours, former Chelsea star Frank Sinclair believes his former club would be foolish to part ways with Madueke at this point in his career: ‘I think that would be going against the grain of what Chelsea are trying to achieve,’ Sinclair told Metro via Kasinoseta.com.
‘They have been recruiting a young squad and letting them develop for four or five years and Madueke should be a big part of those plans, given how he has grown.
‘He’s got that recognition from England now as well, and that’s brought his confidence on even more.
‘Pedro Neto is obviously also on that right side, but given the competitions Chelsea are in next season, you need all these players if you are going to compete and bridge that gap at the top of the table.
