Eddie Howe subjected to this appalling line of questioning by the media

Eddie Howe is the same as any other Premier League manager.

He will expect to be quizzed by the media when things aren’t going perfectly.

Journalists wouldn’t be doing their job if they didn’t ask Eddie Howe about below par performances and/or poor results.

With the Newcastle United boss expected to give reasonable answers and explain how he thinks the form/results can be got back on track, when applicable.

However, when it comes to fair and reasonable, the media should also respect that.

For me a line was crossed on Friday.

Eddie Howe asked by a journalist at his press conference ahead of the Brentford match, if there is a possibility he might resign as Newcastle manager.

Eddie Howe giving this reply: “That is a surprise to me…I give my best every day. To the football club, to the players, to the staff. Try to be the best version of myself, to inspire the team, to win games. Those are the only things in my thoughts. I don’t tend to look too far ahead. I try to plan and prepare for the club to move forward in every sense. My individual future is not really relevant.”

You would almost think that some journalists are now only asking certain questions to then use as a shock horror attention seeking headline.

No wonder Eddie Howe looked so bemused by this ridiculous question.

Why would the Newcastle United boss be thinking of resigning???

Nobody pretends that this season has been perfect BUT the way some journalist and indeed, some Newcastle United fans, have gone on, you would think it had been a total disaster.

Eddie Howe has had some incredibly difficult obstacles placed in his path and yet Newcastle United got to a third Carabao Cup semi-final in four years, are a play-off tie away from reaching the last 16 of the Champions League, still in the FA Cup, whilst seven points off a Champions League qualifying spot in the Premier League.

One media headline today after this pathetic question was asked, declared ‘Eddie Howe stunned by suggestion that he could resign as Newcastle United Manager’

Exactly.

No wonder Eddie Howe looked and spoke like he was stunned, why should he have to put up with appalling nonsense such as this???
