“La Joya” has once again returned to action, but only to retire.
More bad news for Paulo Dybala, who this time appears likely to miss much of his season.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentine striker underwent arthroscopic surgery at the Villa Stuart clinic, where a small partial tear to the external meniscus in his left knee was diagnosed.
The surgery, conducted by Professor Mariani, repaired the damage, but his recovery now involves approximately 45 days of absence.
After feeling a jolt in his knee in mid-February during training, Dybala had already experienced a moment of great despair, which culminated in tears.
His lengthy recovery period will mean he will miss several crucial matches: he will miss the league matches against Genoa, Como, Lecce, and Inter, nor the two-legged tie against Bologna in the Europa League.
His return seems possible only for the match against Atalanta on April 19th, when the season is now in its final stages.
In short, barring any surprises, the Argentine will be fit for the end of the season, with Roma potentially still playing in the Serie A and Europa League.
At the end of the year, a separation seems inevitable: a contract renewal is practically impossible, and a permanent stay for the former Juventus and Palermo player in the capital seems increasingly unlikely.
