Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today..
ARSENAL boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the Gunners will hold contract talks with midfielder Thomas Partey whose current deal expires at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Partey’s current deal is due to expire in 2025 and discussions over a possible extension at the Emirates did not happen over the summer as many believed that he would get that move away from the Premier League giants.
The Ghana international was limited in his starts for the club last season because of injury, and there were mane reports that Arsenal were deciding whether to cash in on the player in the summer or risk losing him on a free transfer in just over a year’s time
What has happened:
It has been claimed in recent weeks that ARSENAL are now keen to tie Partey down to a new contract at Arsenal after a good start to the new Premier League season, and now Arteta has confirmed that.
Speaking to reporters, the Spanish coach said, “He’s only 31 and he’s in a really good place… we will have talks. The one thing that we needed was Thomas to be at the level we wanted certainly. He’s working so hard to do what he’s doing at the moment.”
Arsenal were open to Partey exit.
Pundit Chris Wheatley has claimed that ARSENAL were very much open to the idea of letting powerhouse midfielder Thomas Partey leave the club over the course of the summer transfer window, he said on ShotsTV: “In the summer, I know that Arsenal were open to offers for Thomas Partey, and there were a few teams, especially in Turkey.
“Lots of agents were trying to get mandates to get the deal done for Partey. Arsenal were certainly open to letting him go in the summer.”
Based on Wheatley’s comments, I can’t help but think Arsenal were lucky Partey never left.
‘I can’t help but wonder how Arsenal would have fared without Partey, given how influential he is.’

The Swede, who scored 29 goals in his maiden season, has already notched up 11 in just eight games so far this campaign and there has been alot of speculation in the media that he is one player that clubs may look to sign in the January transfer window.
Gyokeres now heading for exit after Amorim departure?
Gyokeres is one of a number of Sporting CP players who could leave the Portuguese club in the wake of Ruben Amorim’s departure, with Arsenal, Chelsea and United likely to chase the former Coventry striker once again.
O Jogo reports that Gyokeres’ is “dissatisfied” with the decision of the head coach to depart for Manchester United, as the Portuguese boss was one of the main reasons that he stayed in the summer window.
That has led to reports in the media that Gyokeres could follow Amorim to United in the transfer window, ad the Red Devils need to add a striker to the attack that can actually score on a regular basis.
What has Gyokeres said?
Speaking to reporters, the forward said, “Going with Amorim to Man United? I don’t know, I’m here. As you can see, I enjoy it at Sporting. It’s nothing I think about. I’m sad about him leaving. We wish him all the best.”
Gyokeres Only at Sporting because of Amorim
Amorim’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya revealed in the summer that Gyokeres was only at Sporting because of Amorim, Cetinkaya admitted in an interview with A Bola: “It will be more difficult for Viktor to stay if Ruben Amorim leaves Sporting because Viktor came precisely because of Ruben.
“The day we met, I said to Ruben: ‘Here’s my boy, he came to Sporting because of you.’”
He further added: “There were eight clubs very interested in Viktor last summer [2023].
“They all paid Coventry more than Sporting, they all paid Viktor more, they all paid a higher commission to the agent.
“And I brought him to Sporting because of Ruben Amorim, because I know his work and his work with the players. I chose Ruben because he is a coach at another level.”
