Divisive Horror Movie ‘Him’ Sets Peacock Streaming Release Date

The Jordan Peele-produced horror film Him showed promise and went on to become one of 2025’s most divisive releases, but audiences have another chance with the Peacock streaming release date. Directed and co-written by Justin Tipping, whose past credits include the TV shows Dear White People and Joe vs. Carole, Him stars Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers, Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, and Jim Jefferies.

The horror film transports audiences into a nightmare-fueled take on the world of high-stakes football. With Peele’s Monkeypaw producing the film, the trailer attracted attention, highlighting a disturbed sports icon’s violent methods as he takes a promising young rookie under his wing. However, it divided critics and audiences upon release, with many finding the subversive sports tale shallow yet visually impactful. Some critics also noted the drastic shift in the third act, with Him proving to be a bold, often violent statement right up to the closing credits. Him currently holds a 30% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences tending to like the film more, as evidenced by the Popcornmeter score of 57%.

Peacock announced that Him is finally making its way to the streaming platform on December 19, just in time for families to be horrified as they gather for the holidays. When Him hit theaters in September, the psychological sports thriller flopped with moviegoers, grossing only $27.8 million worldwide, with the film’s budget reportedly in the same range, making it a misfire. However, horror fans are finding things to love, with the unique Peele-produced film recruiting a fanbase, which is sure to grow once it debuts on Peacock.

What Is Jordan Peele Scaring Up Next?

Universal Pictures

Jordan Peele has plans to continue scaring moviegoers, with several projects in the works. The Get Out director has his own untitled horror film that has had its release dates shifted several times as he continues to develop the script. Peele’s next directorial effort doesn’t have a release date, but it is sure to continue his social commentary and humorous tone through a horror lens, like Nope and Us.

Peele is also joining forces with Sam Raimi to produce a new religious horror film based on a YouTube short called Portrait of God. The genre icons plan to adapt the short with the original creator, Dylan Clark, bringing a distinctly minimalist tale to theaters so that audiences can experience Portrait of God‘s terrifying question-and-answer for themselves. The Academy Award-winner is also still planning to produce a remake of Wes Craven’s classic horror film The People Under the Stairs, following Peele’s similar revisits of old franchises, like Candyman and The Twilight Zone.

While audiences may have missed Him in theaters, Peacock is set to give the divisive sports thriller a new lease on life, and Peele shows no signs of stopping, with an update on his next directing project likely forthcoming.
