Disney Debuts First Footage of ‘Zootopia 2’ at CinemaCon

Walt Disney Studios thrilled attendees at CinemaCon 2025 with exclusive looks at its upcoming slate of releases, including one of the company’s most sought-after sequels: Zootopia 2. Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan took to the stage to unveil two clips and some first-look images from the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s hit 2016 movie. He voices a character named Gary De’Snake in the animated feature, who is described as “a venomous-but-lovable pit viper” and one that is sure to slither away from any scuffles that Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde find themselves in.

The footage, shown during the Walt Disney Studios presentation on Thursday, which was attended by Variety, revealed that Judy and Nick might have more problems on their paws than usual, as the dynamic duo are now attending group therapy for seemingly mismatched police partners. Among them are “an elephant who keeps getting terrified of the mouse who shares a squad car” and a “deer who keeps fighting with a skunk,” but it’s not all bad, as a second clip shows Judy and Nick on holiday at a marsh resort, where they are surrounded by a fun-loving group of animal characters.

The official synopsis for Zootopia 2 gives a better idea of what Judy and Nick will get up to on their next big-screen adventure, and it turns out that Gary De’Snake is going to be responsible for some hiss-terical antics that turn the animal metropolis upside down, prompting Judy and Nick to go undercover and explore new parts of town in hot pursuit of the twisty troublemaker. Along the way, they are sure to meet a colorful cast of characters, including a few new additions, who might be able to help them out as this case tests their growing partnership “like never before.”
