However, fans still speculate what a new adventure in Night City might look like, whether it comes to returning characters, locations, or gameplay features they want to see in the future. The quality of this RPG can be contributed to its immersive mechanics, which seem to be a priority for any sequel.

One of the lead developers for Cyberpunk 2077, Igor Sarzynski, has commented on ideas and features for a sequel. Although he doesn’t mention Cyberpunk 2077 by name, a recent X post from Dexerto reveals that the game’s development team “favor first-person only cutscenes again, as they value the ‘uninterrupted immersion’ more than flashy cinematics.” In fact, Cyberpunk‘s sequel may even lean harder into first-person than its predecessor.

The doubling down on first-person cutscenes rather than detached cinematics seems to be the priority of Cyberpunk 2077‘s developers. This marks a slight shift in CD Projekt Red’s style, as The Witcher series has an above-view, third-person camera that defines your gameplay.

This possible commitment to first-person in Cyberpunk‘s sequel won’t just apply to moments during quests. If the first-person moments are anything like Cyberpunk 2077 in its sequel, you will have full control of your camera’s movement during a variety of events. This includes big story moments, dialogue sections, and eventually, the impactful endings of Cyberpunk 2077 that will be part of any follow-up to the hit RPG.

The ability to change your point of view on command within big or small sections of the story adds to the agency you feel, which is what you want from a role playing game.

Paying attention during cutscenes or less action-packed moments is much easier when you have some input on what is happening. Detached cinematics can be well animated, but require no player involvement to keep going.

The sequel of Cyberpunk 2077 adding even more emphasis on its first-person gameplay has far more potential than a shift to a third-person option. Over-the-shoulder perspectives, like those seen in some Resident Evil games, don’t fit the themes of Cyberpunk as well as first-person views do.
