January 30 – Concacaf has confirmed the launch of Concacaf Pro Licensing, a new elite coach education framework aimed at standardising high-performance coaching qualifications across the region.
The announcement was made during the United Soccer Coaches Convention in the United States, during a panel discussion focused on coaching development and cross-organisational collaboration. The programme will sit at the top of Concacaf’s coach education pathway and apply across all 41 of the confederation’s member associations.
Concacaf’s Football Development Department outlined the scope of the initiative, which is designed to create a ‘consistent professional benchmark’ for elite coaches working at club and national team level. The programme has been developed in collaboration with UEFA through the UEFA Together initiative, as well as building on the evolution of the Concacaf Coaching Convention.
“The launch of Concacaf Pro Licensing is a defining moment for our region,” said Concacaf Chief Football Development Officer Jason Roberts. “By establishing world-class standards for our elite coaches, we’re not just developing better technical leaders, we’re building a foundation that will elevate the entire football ecosystem across Concacaf. This program reflects our commitment to excellence and our vision for the future of the game in our confederation.”
Concacaf said the new licensing structure is intended to improve leadership, methodology and decision-making at the highest levels of the game, with knock-on effects for domestic leagues, clubs and national teams across the region. The confederation also positioned the programme as a step towards greater global alignment in coach education.
“Our partnership with UEFA and other key stakeholders, and our participation in forums like the United Soccer Coaches Convention demonstrate our commitment to learning from the best while sharing our own innovations,” Roberts added. “The Pro Licensing program is the result of extensive collaboration and research, and it will create unprecedented opportunities for our coaches to develop at the highest levels while contributing to the global football community.”
