As the summer transfer window heats up, Milan is inching closer to reinforcing their midfield, but not without twists and complications. The Rossoneri are currently chasing Club Brugge’s Ardon Jashari, but with negotiations stalling, a new name has emerged on the radar — a familiar face to USMNT fans and one who could soon reunite with Christian Pulisic in Italy.
Milan’s top midfield target remains Ardon Jashari, the 22-year-old Swiss international currently with Club Brugge. Personal terms between the player and the Italian giants have reportedly been agreed, but a final agreement with the Belgian club continues to prove elusive.
Jashari, who was left out of Brugge’s squad for the Belgian Super Cup final, has made no secret of his desire to wear the Rossoneri shirt. However, Club Brugge is holding out for a transfer fee in the region of $44 million, according to the club’s captain, Hans Vanaken. The Italian giant, while admiring the player’s profile and commitment, is reluctant to go that high.
New contender: Pulisic’s national team pal in the frame
With the Jashari deal hanging in the balance, the Rossoneri have quietly reignited interest in Tyler Adams, the 26-year-old American midfielder currently with Bournemouth. The move would not only strengthen the team’s midfield depth but reunite Adams with Christian Pulisic, his USMNT teammate, and potentially Yunus Musah — though Musah has been linked with a summer exit.
According to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Adams is valued between $27 million and $33 million, a figure well within Milan’s budgetary framework for midfield reinforcements.
“Tyler Adams is being considered as an alternative should the Jashari pursuit collapse,” reports Tuttosport. “The club appreciates his energy, tactical intelligence, and leadership, and believes he could adapt well to Serie A.”
Adams, who battled injury setbacks last season, managed to return to consistent form under Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth, helping the Cherries finish a respectable ninth in the Premier League. He also played a crucial role in the USMNT‘s 2022 World Cup campaign, captaining the side and earning praise for his leadership and composure.
Milan’s midfield makeover
The Rossoneri have already made key midfield additions this summer, signing veteran Luka Modric and Italy international Samuele Ricci, but the loss of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City has left a gap. Milan’s intention is clear: add one more versatile and athletic midfielder to complement their evolving tactical setup.
If the deal for Jashari continues to stall, Adams could quickly move to the front of the queue. The club’s sporting director, Igli Tare, is reportedly assessing all scenarios to avoid being left without a third reinforcement in midfield before the season kicks off.
