Christian Pulisic diagnosed with “low-grade” hamstring injury, to miss weekend match

Christian Pulisic will not be part of AC Milan’s return to Serie A play this weekend.

Pulisic has been diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring injury, AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed Friday in his prematch press conference. Pulisic is set to be reevaluated by the club in approximately 10 days’ time.

The U.S. men’s national team star suffered the injury during Tuesday’s 2-1 friendly win over Australia. Pulisic excited the match in the 30th minute after a rough tackle from Australia’s Jason Geria.

Pulisic, 27, has been key to the Rossoneri’s positive start to the Serie A season. His four goals in league play are tied for first in the Golden Boot race.

He’s also found the back of the net twice in Coppa Italia play. Pulisic earned Player of the Month honors at AC Milan for his blistering run of form over September.

AC Milan will host Fiorentina on Sunday before taking on Pisa and Atalanta in its final matches of October’s schedule. The Rossoneri will also have two league fixtures before the November international break.

USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino will hope Pulisic is back fit and available for November’s pair of friendlies against Paraguay and Uruguay respectively.
