Los Angeles Football Club have found their way into the Club World Cup, and they take the field this afternoon against one of the biggest clubs in the world in Chelsea FC.
Chelsea does not enter this tournament as one of the prohibitive favorites, but they can be considered a contender. They boast a strong lineup, including Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez. American goalkeeper Gaga Slonina, who was loaned out to Barnsley before being recalled in January due to injury, is on the Chelsea tournament roster, but isn’t expected to feature for the team.
LAFC was the final team in the Club World Cup, getting their spot via a playoff win against Club América. Their captain is former USMNT defender Aaron Long, and Timothy Tillman is also one of the Americans to watch. However, LAFC also has a lineup that includes Olivier Giroud, Hugo Lloris, and is led by Denis Bouanga. They will look to establish themselves and hopefully pull off the major upset.
