Pop superstar Charli XCX will be starring in another film, this one based on her own original idea, Variety reports. The project, titled The Moment, will be produced by Charli as the first film under her new production company, Studio365. A24 will distribute the picture, which is to be the feature directorial debut of photographer turned filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who helmed two music videos for Charli, “360” and “Guess” featuring Billie Eilish. Zamiri co-wrote the script with Bertie Brandes. Plot details are under wraps, but producer and longtime collaborator A.G. Cook, who produced Charli’s award-winning sixth album Brat, will provide the soundtrack.
The Moment is appropriately titled, given that Charli herself is certainly having her moment. She has been in the throes of a pop culture moment since the Brat summer phenomenon of 2024, a slew of accolades for the album, including seven Grammy nods, a stint hosting and performing on Saturday Night Live, and an impressive list of upcoming movies announced in the last year.
She’s set to appear in seven other projects releasing in the near future, including queer cinema icon Greg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, in which Charli will star opposite Olivia Wilde, Mason Gooding and Cooper Hoffman; The Gallerist, a dark comedy from Birds of Prey director Cathy Yan, featuring Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman; and a remake of the infamous horror mockumentary Faces of Death, among other titles.

Charli Studied Acting Before Diving Into Her First Roles
In a separate interview with Variety from December 2024, Charli commented on her burgeoning acting career, saying that she enjoyed learning the process on set and ensured she had done her homework before her big pivot to screen roles. She explained:
“I’m enjoying learning about being on a set and learning from great directors and actors… I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it. So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”

There’s an argument to be made that the ’90s was the best decade for SNL.
Charli also revealed she got advice on hosting SNL from Oscar-nominated Wicked star Ariana Grande.
“She was just like, ‘You’re gonna be amazing, just relax, it’s so fun,’ but outside of her advice about contact lenses — which I ended up not going with on the night — I really heeded [Lorne Michaels’] advice, which was just to trust the process, go with the flow and not try and overly control things that would automatically get figured out along the way. I listened to that advice because, I mean, how can you not?”
When asked if she was ready for the super-stardom that comes with being a pop star and actress, Charli said she wasn’t sure and that she was at a “crossroads” in her life. But with this latest starring role announcement, it seems Charli is sliding comfortably into the Hollywood spotlight. David Hinojosa is also producing The Moment via his company 2AM. Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright, and Zach Nutman will executive produce.
