Bruno Fernandes scores from spot to reward bright Red Devils start

Manchester United are continuing their impressive pre-season under Ruben Amorim after taking an early lead against Everton.

The Red Devils are flawless in their Summer Series tour in the United States, having already beaten West Ham and Bournemouth, and have so far looked sharp in Atlanta against the Toffees.

Both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha were included in the starting XI, but it is Amad Diallo who has shone brightest so far, finding plenty of joy in his right wing-back role.

And it was his electric pace that helped give United the lead.

Breaking into the penalty box, Diallo drew a clumsy foul from James Tarkowski, who pushed him in the back with two hands.

The young forward fell in the penalty box, and United were awarded a penalty inside the opening 20 minutes.

It looked like Diallo may take the spot kick, but the ball was handed off to Fernandes.

The skipper used his usual hop-skip-and-jump routine before sending Jordan Pickford the wrong way and giving the Red Devils a deserved lead.

Since the penalty, United have remained the stronger team, with Mbeumo going close on two occasions.

There certainly looks to be more goals in this contest yet.
