Season four of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test saw its first dropout in episode 1 with Bravo’s Brittany Cartwright. The reality competition series features notable public figures putting their minds and bodies to the test, participating in missions performed by the US’s Special Forces.
Cartwright is known for her time on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules and The Valley. Her relationship with ex-husband Jax Taylor has been the majority of her storylines, especially now that Brittany and Jax are separated. The starlet joined Special Forces to get stronger now that she’s out of her relationship, but it looks like the intensity took a toll on her so soon after separating.
Brittany Cartwright Quit After One Day, But Her Reasoning Is Layered
The first episode of season 4 of Special Forces was an intense one with strict rules to follow. The teams met their drill sergeants and were immediately put to the test. The group was split into teams and was told to jump out of a helicopter to transport supplies to an extraction point.
While Brittany Cartwright completed the helicopter jump and did her best to move the equipment, she eventually quit when her team failed the mission and had to run back to the barracks.
Cartwright shared on the series that the biggest reason she joined the competition was to prove to herself and her ex-husband that she was mentally tough enough to conquer adversity. When she pulled out, she quickly said, “I knew I was gonna be first. I f–king knew it. So embarrassing.”
However, in an interview with Access Hollywood, Cartwright explained the layers that went into her decision to leave. Quitting wasn’t black or white, and a lot went into it.
“I went into this in a very tough time in my life. I wasn’t completely physically prepared. I have never been away from my son for that long. And also, after coming out of a toxic relationship, I thought I would be able to handle the comments and, you know, the [drill sergeants] are doing their job… I didn’t realize how much that would trigger me.”
Cartwright explained that whenever the sergeants called her “weak,” she agreed with them, and it encouraged her to leave the series early. She continued that there wasn’t one specific thing that led to her quitting; it was a combination of realizations. Among them was feeling like she was letting down her team.
As a self-described “people pleaser,” she felt like she was holding her team back, and leaving the series was the only way to save her team. Between missing her son, feeling physically inadequate, and the emotional remains of a toxic relationship, Cartwright’s decision to leave the series is heartbreaking and way more layered than what was shown in the series.
Now away from the drill sergeants and the desert, Cartwright has moved on in more ways than one.
Brittany Cartwright Has Moved On In More Ways Than One
At the end of Cartwright’s interview with Access Hollywood, she shared how much support she’s had since leaving Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, especially from her new boyfriend.
Cartwright moved on from her soon-to-be ex-husband, Jax Taylor, with Brandon Hanson. The two knew each other while growing up in Kentucky and reconnected in Los Angeles. She explained that the two of them laugh about the headlines and that she is in a good mental place. The new couple has found comfort in one another, especially during this tough time in Cartwright’s life.
Outside a new relationship, Cartwright is moving on from Special Forces to her series The Valley. Season 3 of the reality TV show started filming in August 2025 and has already created headlines about what fans can expect. The series follows Cartwright and her close group of friends as they navigate friendships, relationships, and work in Los Angeles.
With hard times behind her, Cartwright has a lot to look forward to and a sharper insight thanks to her time on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
