Liverpool has been in the market to bring in new ceiling-raising players in the ongoing winter transfer window, and the Kop could be set for some thrilling news with Leroy Sane, who could be on his way back to the Premier League with Bayern Munich ready to let go of the German international at a fee around £20-25 million should the 28-year-old reject any possible contract extensions, per Football Insider.
The former Schalke wide forward is free to hold talks over a probable pre-contract agreement with clubs at the moment, and a possible sale in January will be Bayern’s last realistic opportunity to cash in on the 28-year-old.
The Reds, alongside other Premier League heavyweights in Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea, are keeping an eye on Sane, with the Merseysiders looking to bring in a dynamic and versatile attacking option in Arne Slot’s roster given Chiesa’s failure to find his feet at L4.
History at Etihad, but Sane can add spice under Slot
And while Sane remains an icon at Manchester City for his 39 goals and 43 assists in 135 appearances at the Etihad Stadium, the potential skill set he brings to Anfield will give a different flavour under Arne Slot.
Liverpool has been solid in the attack, but the potential of losing key players like Mohamed Salah in the summer window with his contract running out makes Sane an attractive target for the chiefs at Kirkby, given how he could fit into Liverpool’s high-pressing system linking up with the likes of Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, and Cody Gakpo.
Bayern Munich will be looking to keep hold of the German international as they look to reclaim the Bundesliga title under Vincent Kompany; however, they could be forced into a sale if Sane did not commit to a new contract and a decent offer were to come in this window.
