Barcelona squad fly early as official video shows them landing at Newcastle and hotel arrival

The Barcelona playing squad have arrived on Tyneside.

Whereas Qarabag arrived only the night before their game at St James’ Park, Barcelona giving this Champions League clash their full and serious attention when it comes to their approach to it.

Barca arriving more than 48 hours ahead of the match.

Qarabag of course were already 6-1 down from the first leg in Azerbaijan.

As you can see in the official Barcelona video below, the playing squad landing on Tyneside to blue skies this Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, Barcelona travelled to Bilbao and won 1-0 against Athletic Club, thanks to a 68th minute Yamal goal.

Then rather than returning home in the meantime, they elected to stay overnight in Bilbao on Saturday and then fly direct to Newcastle on Sunday.

The Barcelona official squad that has travelled to Tyneside:

Goalkeepers

Juan Garcia, Szczesny, Kocine

Defenders

João Cancelo, Ronald Araújo, Pau Cubarsi, Gerard Martin, Eric Garcia, Cortés, Xavi Espart

Midfielders

Gavi, Pedri, Fermín López, Marc Casadó, Dani Olmo, Marc Bernal, Tomy

Attackers

Ferran Torres, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Marcus Rashford, Roony Bardghji

Missing from the travelling squad are the likes of Andreas Christensen, Frenkie De Jong, Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde.

Whilst Gavi  (Pictured above with the hat on) is named in the squad for this Champions League match, Barcelona say that he hasn’t as yet been cleared to play by the medical staff.

Gavi has been missing due to injury for a long time and before the Athletic Club match, Barcelona boss Hansi Flick said: “He will travel with us, he will be training with us, but he isn’t ready to play. Maybe after the next international break. We’ll see.”
