Barcelona new signing delighted after impressive debut against Vissel Kobe – “Flick can make me play”

Barcelona’s newest addition, Marcus Rashford, made his unofficial debut in Blaugrana colours during the club’s first pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe.

Although he didn’t get on the scoresheet, the Englishman impressed with his movement, link-up play, and understanding of Flick’s tactics in a 3-1 win.

Speaking after the match, Rashford shared his thoughts on the performance, his first impressions of the fans, and his expectations going forward.

What Rashford said after Vissel Kobe win

Talking about his own performance and the atmosphere in the stadium, Rashford said (h/t Diario SPORT), “Very good, a good performance, and it was truly wonderful to play in front of the fans. It was also beneficial in terms of physical fitness.”

The forward also stressed the importance of adapting to the team’s style and philosophy under Flick.

“I know we managed to win the match today, but it’s very important to adapt to the team, get into the playing style, and deliver good football. I think we did that in both halves,” he said.

Despite the challenge of playing with a rotated squad, Rashford felt the team’s chemistry was encouraging.

“It’s always tough in matches like these when the team changes between halves, but I think we performed well,” he added.

Asked about playing in Japan, Rashford was full of praise for the supporters. “The atmosphere was amazing. We don’t always get the chance to play in these stadiums, and now that we’re here in Japan, it’s great to play in front of these crowds,” he said.

Rashford also hinted at his excitement to work under Flick, even going on to say that the German knows how to utilise his strengths.

“I believe Flick can make me play good football, and I think the reason I’m here is to help the team try to win,” he said.

Finally, when asked about his preferred position, the Englishman admitted he likes to operate on the left flank.

“Maybe I prefer the left side, but I can play in different positions – one of my strengths is being able to play across the front line. I play where the team needs me and try to score goals and create them from those positions,” he concluded.
