As Barcelona gear up for the new season, much of the focus in the coming weeks will be on registering the two big signings – Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia.
However, in addition to these stars, Barcelona are equally keen on registering a few young players who they believe can make an impact next season.
To that end, the Catalans have identified as many as three players whom they will try to register as part of the first team going into the new season.
Who are these three players?
According to SPORT, the three players in question are Gerard Martin, Roony Bardghji and Marc Bernal.
Martin, for one, is considered a vital part of the Barcelona setup as he is the only available alternative to Alejandro Balde at left-back.
Although Barcelona are also keeping an eye on Jofre Torrents’ development, Martin is considered the main backup for now.
The left-back played with a reserve team registration last season, but will have a first-team registration and number in the new season.
As for Bardghji, the new signing from Copenhagen has been one of the standout performers for Barcelona during pre-season so far.
He notably scored in his unofficial debut against Vissel Kobe and has hugely impressed in training, leading Barcelona to believe that he could be an asset for the first team.
Bardghji can offer some vital depth in the attacking unit, especially if new signing Rashford fails to deliver quickly.
As for Bernal, the youngster was regarded as one of Spain’s most gifted midfield prodigies last season until his progress was halted by a long-term injury.
Now slowly returning to full fitness, Bernal will once again be given the opportunity to impress Hansi Flick, even though he did not feature in any of the friendlies in Asia.
Like Martin, he too had a reserve team registration last season but that will change with Barcelona planning to hand him a first-team contract and number.
