There’s nothing better than an unexpected action hero, and while the latest addition has thrown a fist before, he’s best known by far for his comedic timing rather than his gunfighting prowess. Well, that’s all about to change, as American Pie star Seann William Scott breaks bad as your new favorite action antihero in the first trailer for Bad Man, which you can check out below.
Bad Man marks the debut feature from director Michael Diliberti, with the filmmaker working from a script he co-wrote with JJ Nelson. Alongside American Pie’s Seann William Scott, the action outing is brimming with comedic talent, including Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The Late Bloomer star Johnny Simmons, Saturday Night Live alum and 21 Jump Street star Rob Riggle, and Waiting… and Accepted star Kaitlin Doubleday, as well as Chance Perdomo, Lovi Poe, Marcelle LeBlanc, Erik Audé, and John Patrick Jordan.
Bad Man is set for Digital Release on September 15, 2025, from Vertigo Releasing, and, alongside the trailer, you can also check out the action movie’s official synopsis below.
“The small town of Colt Lake, Tennessee has a big meth problem. When murder strikes, Deputy Sam Evans is assigned the case. A former local sports star, Evans has fallen from grace in the eyes of the community he still holds dearly. No one takes him seriously or thinks he can get the job done.
Then hot shot Bobby Gaines arrives. An undercover agent with the state’s Special Narcotics Task Force, he is immediately welcomed like a hero. Evans is forced to work the case with the new top dog in town but as they dig deeper, all may not be what it seems with this strange new saviour…”
‘Bad Man’ Is Based on Real Events
As revealed in the trailer, Bad Man “is based on real events,” with the action comedy clearly giving Seann William Scott the opportunity to stretch his action hero muscles alongside his comedic ones as your new favorite renegade cop. Standing up to authority, fellow cops, and criminals, it doesn’t take long for bullets and punches to start flying once Scott’s bad cop storms onto the scene.
After making a major impression as the scene-stealing Steve Stifler in the American Pie franchise, Seann William Scott’s credits have been surprisingly few and far between. The actor has dabbled in the action genre before with the likes of Bulletproof Monk, The Rundown, aka Welcome to the Jungle alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, The Wrath of Becky, and the Lethal Weapon series, but Bad Man looks like it’ll finally give the charismatic actor an action hero role to really sink his teeth into.
As for American Pie, Seann William Scott revealed back in 2023 that talks are happening, with the possible American Pie 5 being based on Scott’s own idea. “I don’t know, I just love the character so much. We have to have a great idea, and especially these days, it has to be awesome,” he explained to Comicbook.com. “You know, comedy is tough, and they have always been tough, but you know, comedies have really changed. But I think, honestly, we have been talking about an idea. I had one and I still have one that we’ve literally just recently started talking about.”
