With a runtime of over three hours, Avatar: Fire & Ash may very well require you to take a bathroom at some point during the latest entry in James Cameron’s sci-fi epic. Thankfully, we’ve figured out the best times for you to dash to the bathroom before you even get to the theater.
Using key moments from the trailers as markers (don’t worry, we won’t spoil anything!), we’ve identified the two best times to make your way to the bathroom during Avatar: Fire & Ash where you won’t miss anything super huge. The first occurs just over an hour into the movie, while the second is just before the final act.
Option One: Wait For Jake and Neytiri’s Big Argument
Just over an hour into Avatar: Fire & Ash, there’s a prime moment to run to the bathroom when Jake starts arguing with Neytiri at the Metkayina Reef Village.
Not only is the most important part of the conversation in the movie’s released trailers (where Jake tells his wife she has to stop living in so much hate), but much of the conversation has to do with prior events seen in 2023’s Avatar: The Way of Water.
As a result, it’s a great time to dash for a nearby bathroom, especially with the next couple of scenes afterward being not incredibly consequential compared to others.
Option Two: The Return of Toruk Makto
Another great moment occurs late into the second act of Fire & Ash, when the potential need for a bathroom break is perhaps greater. As soon as Jake Sully reunites with Toruk (as seen in the trailers), many of the following scenes for the next few minutes were used in the marketing for Fire & Ash, while also being quite familiar to what was seen in 2009’s Avatar.
On the one hand, the scenes serve as a pretty cool homage to the first movie, though their heavy use in the trailers means movie-goers can run to the bathroom without having to worry about missing anything major, though they should go quickly!
After all, the stakes naturally get raised in Fire & Ash as soon as the third act truly gets rolling, surpassing anything seen in the previous two entries of Cameron’s Avatar franchise.
James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire & Ash is now playing in theaters.
