Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Julian Alvarez, Jamaal Musiala and Sophie Harwood that you may have missed…
There has been some fresh reports in the media which have claimed that Arsenal have made their first moves to sign Julien Alvarez, after enquiring about a possible deal for the Atletico Madrid star.
Viktor Gyokeres is the club’s top-scorer after establishing himself as one of the games very best strikers, but his return of five goals represents a poor return for a player ARSENAL paid £64m for last summer.
That has led to alot of speculation in the media that Arsenal are very much interested in trying to sign Alvarez for a reported £81 million, with many reports suggesting that Madrid will be open to letting the striker leave the club.
Now, according to ESPN, the Gunners have made their first moves to sign the striker by making an enquiry to Madrid about a possible deal at the end of the current season.
The news comes after Pundit Gary Lineker suggested ARSENAL should pursue Alvarez this summer and says his arrival in north London would be devastating for their domestic rivals: ‘They’ve not got anyone really banging in the goals on a regular basis,’ Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast after Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester United.
‘Gabriel Jesus has come back and scored one or two but there was a reason they needed to sign a new No. 9 in the first place.
‘I like Jesus and always have, he’s got a great work ethic, he chases and harries and does get a few goals. He’s a bit streaky – when he’s on he’s on but when he’s off he a bit of a confidence player.
‘It’s probably complete b*** as most of these things are on social media but I saw they were linked with Julian Alvarez who I know is not entirely happy with life at Atletico.
‘Now that is the sort of player you know can handle the big occasion – he’s a World Cup winner for crying out loud. Someone like that at Arsenal would be game over.
‘But they do need one or two of these current forwards to start scoring on a reasonably regular basis.’
HARWOOD EXCITED
Sophie Harwood has opened up and revealed just how delighted she is after it was revealed by Arsenal that the full-back has signed her very first professional contract with the Gunners.
She said: “I think ARSENAL paved the way for women’s football for so long and they’ve really been pioneers of the game. So just being able to play for such a historic club, it means so much to me.
“I think every time I wear the badge, I just try and do my all and wear it with pride because it’s such a special club with such special people.
“I think it means everything. I think since I started playing football, this was always one of the goals I wanted to achieve. So being able to do it at such a special club, it means so much to me and my family. It’s a really proud moment.”
“I saw my shirt with Harwood 44 on the back, which adds up to eight, my lucky number. It was the number I wore when I played for England, so I was really happy and to be able to have my family here as well, I think it’s a really nice moment.
“I think all they’ve done for me over the years, sacrificing everything to take me all over the country, I think it’s so nice. So to be able to repay them is like a really nice feeling.”
“I’ve been with the first team the whole season, which has been incredible. I think being able to train day in, day out with world-class players, I learn so much every single day. I try to take in everything I can and take little bits from other people’s games into mine. So it’s a great experience every day.
“Everyone has been really welcoming. Everyone’s been lovely. So it’s been a good integration with the team. I think Kim [Little] and Lotte [Wubben-Moy] have been really helpful in terms of integrating me.
“I think they always check in on me, see how I’m doing, which is really nice. I think their professionalism is amazing to look up to.”

Musiala is one of the most dynamic, exciting and talented players in world football and a man that Bayern believe can get them back into the habit of winning that Champions League title.
However – there has been alot of speculation about his long-term future at Bayern Munich and it has been mentioned on many occasions that a move to the Premier League could happen, with a number of top clubs ready to splash the cash to try and get a transfer deal done.
According to insider Bayern Space. ARSENAL hierarchy have already held background talks over a possible deal for Musiala, with suggestions that a fee of £150 million would be good enough to secure the German star.
But Bayern are hoping to tie the 22-year-old down to a bumper new deal and are optimistic about their chances. Were they to let Musiala leave, the German giants would be fielding offers worth roughly £149Million
