Arsenal transfer news: Gale – Mosquera

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today featuring the likes of Jessie Gale, Cristhian Mosquera and Douglas Luiz…

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed Valencia star Cristhian Mosquera wants to move to ARSENAL despite being offered a new deal by his club, who turned down to bids from the Premier League giants.

Mosquera has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Mestalla, but Valencia have the option to extend this contract beyond 2026 and have been in talks over a new deal with the Spanish star.

Arsenal have been keeping close tabs on Mosquera’s progress for some time and tested Valencia’s resolve with an opening bid to lure the young defender to the Emirates in recent days.

But this offer was rejected out of hand by Valencia, with the Spanish outfit refusing to be bullied and holding out for a fee in the region of £17million for the highly rated 21-year-old centre-back.

However, now Romero has opened up and claimed that Mosquera wants to make the move to Arsenal – he said: ‘Valencia have offered a deal to Cristhian Mosquera with an important salary. My understanding is that Cristhian Mosquera’s desire is very clear Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal.

‘Cristhian Mosquera wants to play for Arsenal. Now it’s on Valencia and Arsenal to reach an agreement. The first bid €14-15million (£12-13m) got rejected, Arsenal will be back to the table.

‘For sure the conversation will continue club to club for Mosquera and the desire of the player is to go to Arsenal’

Valencia captain Jose Gaya has encouraged Cristhian Mosquera to ignore strong interest from Arsenal and ‘continue growing’ with the La Liga club: ‘I would like them to continue growing here because they can still bring a lot of joy to the fans,’ Valencia skipper Gaya told A Punt when pressed on rumours Cesar Tarrega, Yarek Gasiorowski and Mosquera could all leave the club this summer.

IcFootballnews Says…

Mosquera is a brilliant young defender that is developing very nicely at Valencia, this move to ARSENAL does not need to happen right now as he will not play every game.

It will be very interesting to see just how this all plays out that is for sure.

DOUGLAS LUIZ BOOST

Juventus have reportedly informed long-term ARSENAL target and former Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz that he is free to leave the club this summer after just one underwhelming season at the Allianz Stadium.

Since joining Juventus from Aston Villa last summer, the Brazilian struggled to find regular game time at Allianz Stadium. So, he is anxious about his situation and has been constantly linked with a move back to the Premier League since the January transfer window.

The Brazilian midfielder has already attracted interest from Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and even Manchester United amid talk of a potential swap deal with Jadon Sancho over the past few weeks, but he is also a long-term target for the Gunners.

Arsenal were very interested in signing Douglas Luiz before he made the move to Seria A, and were even linked with a move during the January transfer window in order to add some depth to the squad, but ultimately the Gunners decided to not make a move for the Brazilian.

Now the 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been told to find a new club. New Bianconeri boss Igor Tudor has no plans to include him in his setup for the upcoming season, as per Calciomercato.

And keeping next year’s World Cup in mind, the South American is keen on playing regularly next season to secure his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad.

Luiz went where the money was, Juventus offered him the kind of wages that he desired and that is why he went to Italian football, it has not worked out and a move back to the Premier League may happen..

ARSENAL were interested in the man but after the signing of Martin Zubimendi, they are no longer interested and it is much more likely that he ends up at the likes of Leeds, Forest or United.

GALE SIGNS UP

ARSENAL have confirmed that they delighted to announce that Jessie Gale has put pen to paper on her first professional contract with the club and ended immediate speculation regarding her long-term future with the club.

The Gunners posted on the club website: ‘The 18-year-old striker and England youth international joined our academy aged 17 in January 2024 and has since become an important member of our under-21s side, helping us to win the FIFA Youth Cup in Zurich in May 2024 and the PGA League Under-21 Division One title for the 2024/25 season.

‘Jessie spent the 2024/25 season on a dual-registration agreement with FA Women’s National League side Watford, scoring seven goals and providing five assists across 21 appearances in all competitions.

‘Jessie received her first international call up for the England Under-19s team in October 2024 and has since become a key member of Lauren Smith’s young Lionesses side. Jessie played an important role in England’s qualification campaign for the 2024/25 Under-19 European Championship, scoring three goals and providing one assist across five appearances.

“I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract here at Arsenal,” said Jessie. “This is a special club with great history and ambitions for the future, and it’s incredible to be part of that. I’ve had the opportunity to train alongside the first team here as well as gaining experience elsewhere, and now I’m looking forward to continuing to work hard to develop and progress as a player.”

Head of Player Development James Honeyman added: “Since joining ARSENAL, Jessie has given everything to developing not only as a footballer but as a person as well. She takes every opportunity that comes her way and we’re all proud of her journey so far. Jessie has got a big future ahead of her and we look forward to seeing her develop at Arsenal.”

Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “We’re thrilled that Jessie has signed her first professional contract with us. Jessie has played a key part in our under-21s team over the past year and a half and has shown real dedication to developing as a footballer. We look forward to seeing Jessie continue to grow here.”
