Arne Slot and four Liverpool stars nominated for 2025 Ballon d’Or

Following a remarkable campaign last season, Liverpool been prominently recognised in the nominations for the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.

Arne Slot, in his debut season as Liverpool manager, led the Reds to clinch the Premier League title, securing the club’s 20th top-flight crown — equalling the record held by North West rivals Manchester United.

Slot’s outstanding leadership has earned him a nomination for Men’s Coach of the Year, alongside elite managers such as Napoli’s Antonio Conte, Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique, Barcelona’s Hansi Flick (Barcelona), and Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca.

On the player front, Liverpool’s influential squad members have also received deserved acclaim. Alisson Becker, despite being sidelined for over two months with a hamstring injury, remained a dependable presence for the champions, keeping ten clean sheets across the league. He has been shortlisted among 10 goalkeepers for the prestigious Yashin Trophy, an award he won in 2019 and narrowly missed in 2022.

Liverpool as a club have been nominated for the 2025 Men’s Club of the Year award, competing with world-renowned teams including Chelsea, Barcelona, Botafogo and Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea are also nominated in multiple categories following their FIFA Club World Cup success.

Individual player nominations from Liverpool include standout performers Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Meanwhile, Alexis Mac Allister and the newly signed Florian Wirtz, who joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window, are also recognised on the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or.

Though Wirtz impressed throughout the 2024–25 season with Bayer Leverkusen, his high-profile move to Liverpool signals a new chapter, and expectations are high for his impact at Anfield.

The winner of the 2025 Ballon d’Or and all associated awards will be revealed at the ceremony on Monday 22 September 2025 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
