Apple TV’s Cyberpunk Series ‘Neuromancer’ Is an Exciting 2026 Release

There’s one Apple TV series that you have to watch in 2026, and that’s Neuromancer. The cyberpunk series is adapted from the sci-fi novel by William Gibson, which was published in 1984. Gibson’s two sequels, 1986’s Count Zero and 1988’s Mona Lisa Overdrive, followed, making up the trilogy called Sprawl. Since it’s been so many decades since the novel was published, it’s one of the most highly anticipated releases of next year. While there are plenty of fun Cyberpunk movies like Total Recall and Blade Runner, it’s safe to say we wouldn’t have any of these fascinating stories without Gibson’s influence.

A lot of great TV is on the way in 2026, whether you’re excited (or nervous) to head back to the emergency room for The Pitt Season 2 or can’t wait to swoon over Bridgerton Season 4. But don’t forget about Neuromancer, which will hopefully be as smart, creative, and engaging as its source material.

Apple TV’s Neuromancer is one of the most thrilling new shows coming in 2026, thanks to the love fans have for the novel and the decades people have been waiting for an adaptation. The series was announced in February 2024, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple TV’s official description is:

“A damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”

A story about smart characters determined to uncover secrets? Does it get any better than that? The intriguing plot is just one reason to get excited about Neuromancer. There’s a lot of great creative talent behind it, too. Graham Rolland is the showrunner, and J.D. Dillard directed the pilot episode. Rolland’s writing credits include episodes of Lost and Prison Break, and he co-created Jack Ryan on Prime with Carlton Cuse. Dillard co-wrote and directed the 2019 horror movie Sweetheart and directed episodes of The Twilight Zone reboot and The Outsider.

Callum Turner was cast in the main role of Case in the spring of 2024, and Briana Middleton is playing Molly. Thanks to a Neuromancer teaser from July 2025, we got a brief look at the series. Although no major details were shared, fans got to see Bar Chatsubo, an important setting from the book that will definitely play a big role in the TV series, too.

In February 2024, William Gibson shared a bit of behind-the-scenes information about his work on the Neuromancer TV show. He said that he was there to answer Dillard and Rolland’s questions about the book, but the show is their creative project. He also noted that readers shouldn’t think that the adaptation is going to be exactly like his novel. Gibson wrote, “A novel is a solitary creation. An adaptation is a fundamentally collaborative creation, so first of all isn’t going to ‘be the book.'”

Considering Apple TV’s incredible 2025 sci-fi series, from Vince Gilligan’s original Pluribus to the always thought-provoking Severance, there’s no doubt that Neuromancer will deliver the same compelling and high-concept storytelling that fans have come to expect from the streaming service. It will be particularly interesting to see how the TV series brings the novel’s artificial intelligence, Wintermute, to life. The story asks big questions about how clever AI really is, and considering the discourse, anxieties, and opinions surrounding AI today, Gibson’s work feels more relevant than ever. Although a new year always brings the chance to catch up with beloved characters when a new season premieres, it’s also exciting to dive into an ambitious series, and it seems fair to predict that this one will make as much of a splash as Apple’s other sci-fi stories.

While there is no official release date for Neuromancer yet, Case and Molly’s story will arrive on your TV at some point next year. There are, thankfully, several new Apple TV shows arriving in January, including Shrinking Season 3.
