Anya Taylor-Joy’s R-Rated “Brilliant” & “Intense” Horror Movie Set to Delight Fans on New Streaming Home

Anya Taylor-Joy might have torn the house down in Furiosa a couple of years ago, and helped Miles Teller guard an ancient evil in The Gorge earlier this year, but before both she was a guest at an exclusive restaurant fighting for her life in an R-rated horror movie that critics loved. Now, this spicy little morsel of a delicious film is set to land on free streaming next month, giving viewers a chance to taste its wares for the low, low cost of nothing.

If the culinary metaphors above didn’t give it away, we’re talking about The Menu, director Mark Mylod’s fantastic 2022 horror movie that was as much a satirical take on food culture and elitism as it was a dark comedy that explored the depths of fandom. Hitting theaters on November 18, 2022, The Menu managed to gross $79.6 million at the box office against a $30 million budget, making it a successful hit that only helped bolster Taylor-Joy’s star power following movies like Last Night in Soho and The Northman, as well as a starring role in the Netflix juggernaut, The Queen’s Gambit.

Also starring Ralph Fiennes, Nicholas Hoult, Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, and John Leguizamo, The Menu is making its way to Tubi on December 1, 2025, meaning it will be free to stream for all those who have yet to see it. If you haven’t, you’re missing out on a real treat, because it’s one of those movies that feels like a breath of fresh air thanks to the mere fact that you never know what’s going to happen next. Holding a Certified Fresh rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s been called everything from “brilliant” to “intense.” Fiennes portrayal of celebrity chef Julian Slowik is an absolute blast to watch, as is Hoult’s performance as the guest who worships the ground he walks on. Check out the full synopsis for The Menu below:

“A young couple (Taylor-Joy & Hoult) travels to an exclusive island restaurant run by the legendary Chef Slowik (Fiennes), where each meticulously crafted course reveals disturbing surprises. As the night unfolds, the elite guests realize they’re part of a twisted, carefully planned menu that forces them to confront their secrets, their privilege, and the price of their indulgence.”

What’s Next for Anya Taylor-Joy?

Searchlight Pictures

Following a fairly low-key 2025 that saw her appear in Apple TV+’s The Gorge, and the TIFF indie hit, Sacrifice, Taylor-Joy is set to make 2026 a big year thanks to two, highly anticipated sequels. First up is the animated adventure comedy, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which serves as a follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. If you’ll recall, that one was a huge smash that shattered all sorts of records in 2023, and ultimately earned more than $1.3 billion at the box office. Can lightning strike twice for Taylor-Joy, who’s reprising her role as Princess Peach? We’ll find out when it opens on April 3, 2026.

After that, the star will once again brave the desert sands of Arrakis as she makes her triumphant return to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune saga, where she’ll reprise her role of Alia Atreides in the third and final movie. That one is slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

As we await more news on what the future holds for Taylor-Joy, don’t sleep on her phenomenal performance in The Menu, which will stream for free on Tubi beginning Dec. 1.
