Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Ballerina are two movies guaranteed to heat up the box office this summer, but the respective stars of these action thrillers have been heating up headlines with weeks of rumors about their relationship. Now, in a new interview ahead of her John Wick movie’s debut, Ana De Armas
has broken her silence on all those Tom Cruise
romance rumors and cleared up why they have been spending so much time together.
During an appearance on Good Morning America, the actress revealed that the pair do have an incredible relationship – a working relationship that will hopefully see them working together on more than one project. De Armas said:
“It’s so much fun, and we’re definitely working on a lot of things. Not just one but a few projects with Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie and, of course, Tom. And I’m so excited.”

So, that’s the end of that. No? You don’t quite believe it? Well, no doubt it will all come out in the wash, but after spending a summer with the pair in their separate movies this year, perhaps an on-screen team-up will have to suffice.
Ana de Armas Has Been Building an Impressive Action Resume – Despite Saying She Was Done With the Genre
Ana de Armas is an actress who has very quickly found her footing in Hollywood. Having first appeared a decade ago in roles in movies such as Knock Knock (ironically with her once-again costar, Keanu Reeves) and Blade Runner 2049, her appearance in Knives Out was followed by a kick-ass role in Daniel Craig’s final James Bond movie, No Time to Die. Since then, she has starred with Chris Evans in Ghosted and The Gray Man, and now is facing off against the Baba Yaga himself in Ballerina.
However, it looks like this will not be the end of her action journey, as if she is working with Cruise, it is unlikely that it will be on a gentle romantic comedy. This is certainly a turn of events considering the actress said in 2023 that she did not want to take on any more action roles following her John Wick movie. She told Vanity Fair:
“After Bond, there was kind of a wave of all these action roles, and that was fun. I chose from the ones that I thought were more exciting or with people I wanted to work with. I feel like Ballerina is going to be the end of that, at least for now, because I’m craving a wave of Blonde-type films. I want to do work with directors and do character work. I have had the opportunity to meet directors that I want to work with. The people that I’m getting access to is changing, and that makes me very excited.”
Perhaps Mr. Cruise just has a really nice way with words to coax people into joining him in his big, bold action movie world…in a working sense, of course. Cruise will hit cinemas on May 23 in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, while de Armas fans will need to wait just a little longer until June 6 to see her kicking up a storm in Ballerina.
