Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Richards faces Robinson, and more

Two of the U.S. men’s national team’s consistent English Premier League defenders will meet on Saturday at Craven Cottage.

Antonee Robinson and Chris Richards will face off as Fulham welcomes London rivals Crystal Palace to town. Both teams are seeking top-ten finishes in the EPL this season, with Fulham remaining alive for a potential top-seven spot.

Robinson continues to play a large role in Marco Silva’s squad this season, logging 10 assists in 25 league appearances. The 27-year-old has remained well on the radar of several EPL giants this winter for a potential summer move. A strong end of the season could be what propels the USMNT left back into a starring role elsewhere for 2025-26.

Richards, 24, has started in each of his last nine matches across all competitions. The USMNT centerback has forced his way back into the starting lineup this winter, helping Oliver Glasner’s squad into the FA Cup fifth round and into 13th place in the EPL. Another defender seeking a strong conclusion to the season, Richards looks set to retain his spot pending any changes.

Elsewhere in England, Tyler Adams and Bournemouth welcome Wolves to town. Josh Sargent aims to continue his goalscoring run against Stoke City.

In Spain, Johnny Cardoso and Real Betis visit Getafe in La Liga play.

In France, Tanner Tessmann and Lyon host PSG in the Ligue 1 match of the weekend.

In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus take on Cagliari. Gianluca Busio and Venezia host Lazio.

In Germany, Joe Scally and Noahkai Banks face off in Bundesliga action. Gio Reyna and Borussia Dortmund take on Union Berlin.

Elsewhere, Matthew Hoppe and Sonderjyske visit Nordsjaelland in Danish league play. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Celtic seek three points in SPFL action. Liga MX rolls on with Alex Zendejas headlining the American contingent. George Bello and LASK host Rapid Vienna.
