Liverpool have held conversations with the representatives of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi and Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon. Both English players have the same representatives as the Reds plan to bolster their squad next summer at several key positions.
Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League with 15 points lead over second-placed Arsenal despite limited spending. The Reds only signed Federico Chiesa in a bargain deal, as head coach Arne Slot used his first season to assess the squad he inherited from the legendary manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2024.
While the Reds have performed beyond the expectations of the football audience and media, there are some glaring gaps. Paris Saint-Germain recently exploited those gaps in the Champions League Round of 16 tie, eliminating Liverpool.
The Reds struggled with the lack of outlet in the attack and weaknesses in defence throughout the two-legged fixture. Furthermore, some players have struggled to maintain their consistency throughout the whole season, a recurring theme over the years.
Liverpool earmarked Gordon as a transfer target in the summer of 2024 amid uncertainty about the future of Luis Diaz. However, the potential deal never materialized, but the interest from the Merseyside giants remained strong.
Meanwhile, the Reds need recruitment in the defence department as Joe Gomez continues to struggle with injuries. With Virgil van Dijk already at 33 years of age and Ibrahima Konate’s past struggle with fitness, the Reds need more than Jarell Quansah as their option.
Guehi is a left-footed centre-back with experience and consistency in the Premier League that fits the profile that Liverpool desires. DaveOCKOP exclusively revealed that Liverpool have held conversations with the representatives of Guehi, who also represent Newcastle star Gordon.
