Alexandra Daddario becomes DC’s new Catwoman in exciting DC Universe art after she previously commented on the possibility of joining a Batman movie. Daddario is one of the most fancast actresses for DC roles. Throughout the years, the star has had her name thrown into the ring by fans for characters like Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Catwoman, and many more.
However, Daddario has yet to play a superhero, once coming close to Marvel’s Jessica Jones, which ultimately went to Krysten Ritter. At this time, James Gunn has not mentioned Daddario’s name for any of DC’s upcoming movies and shows. That said, with the franchise having started recently, there is plenty of time for that to change, and the DCU will need a Catwoman.
On DeviantArt, user @CelebsLatex imagined what Alexandra Daddario could look like as DC’s new Catwoman.
The fan art sees Daddario don Catwoman’s classic black suit, complete with a mask that boasts cat ears. The visual feels like a more sleek take on what Michelle Pfeiffer wore as Catwoman in 1992’s Batman Returns, though with some changes. Daddario could pull off Catwoman’s look and persona.
While Daddario has yet to have her name linked to James Gunn’s DCU, the actress has already commented on possibly playing Catwoman. In 2019, Daddario talked to ComicBookMovie about how she had become a popular pick among fans to play Catwoman. At the time, director Matt Reeves was casting Catwoman for The Batman. Zoë Kravitz ended up being cast as Selina.
According to Daddario, she was unaware that fans wanted her to play Catwoman in The Batman. That said, the actress would “love to join any cinematic universe.” Daddario did not go into any specifics about what she thought of the possibility of playing Catwoman, as the actress believes in only getting invested in roles she has secured at least an audition for.
That said, Daddario is open to joining the Marvel or DC Universes, thanking the fans for their support. Six years later, the star still has to be part of a superhero movie. Despite Kravitz playing Catwoman in The Batman franchise, the role is still vacant for James Gunn’s DCU. Batman will debut in The Brave and the Bold, and Catwoman could too.
James Gunn Has Shared A DCU Catwoman Update
Recently, James Gunn confirmed he has plans for Catwoman in the DCU. The franchise’s creative chief was asked about the character by a fan on Threads. Gunn responded by saying, “Oh for sure.” The director did not elaborate, so we don’t know whether Catwoman could be in The Brave and the Bold, a Gotham City Sirens project, or something else.
That said, it is exciting that Catwoman will be part of the DCU. After all, she is Batman’s biggest love interest in the comics and a character with ties to many of Gotham City’s key players. Alexandra Daddario has the skills to make Selina Kyle’s thrill-seeking persona shine in the DCU, and based on her past comments, the fan art could become real in the future.
