Alexander Isak has head turned by Liverpool

Alan Pardew thinks Alexander Isak’s head has been turned by LIVERPOOL as he lauded Eddie Howe’s decision to leave the striker out of the Newcastle United squad for their latest pre-season friendly.

Isak’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months and widespread reports on Tuesday claimed Liverpool had opened fresh talks to prise the 25-year-old away from St James’ Park.

The Premier League champions have long held an interest in Isak and would be prepared to spend in the region of £120million to secure the Swede’s services this summer, but they opted to make a move for the younger, and cheaper, Hugo Ekitike.

But despite moving on from Isak, Pardew has now opened up and claimed that Isak has had his head turned by the interest from Liverpool: “Reading between the lines, it looks very much like the player’s affected, I would suggest,” Pardew said on TalkSPORT.

“So, Eddie made a sensible move and just took it out of the equation.

“Whether he was affected or not, whether we can speculate about that, which we can, whether it’s true or not, I’m not party to. But what I do know is it was a wise move to take him out of the equation.

“When players want to move they make it fundamentally clear in their actions and that can cause a problem.

“Has Isak’s head been turned? I would suggest possibly yes, so they’ve got a battle on there. I think Eddie’s trying to play it down but it won’t go away until LIVERPOOL conduct their business.”

Isak is a world class striker and Newcastle are lucky that he has shown no real desire to leave, but they need to show some ambition this transfer window and add some more players to the side.

There are still alot of weeks left in the transfer window and if a big offer does arrive, we can see Isak leaving.
