Alexander Isak capped off his international break with Sweden with a stunning goal and assist in a 5-1 rout of Northern Ireland.
Having only played an hour during Sweden’s 1-0 defeat to Luxembourg last week, the 25-year-old looked as silky and brilliant as ever for his country against Michael O’Neill’s side.
Isak will now return to Newcastle in good form for a crunch game against Thomas Frank’s Brentford at St James’ Park next Wednesday.
Isak’s tag as the most complete forward in the Premier League, if not the world, continues to grow stronger with seemingly every passing week.
Hosts Sweden opened the scoring thanks to an yet another excellent assist from Isak, latching onto the ball just outside the opposition box, rounding almost the entirety of the Northern Ireland defence, before an incisive pass found Emil Holm to finish at the near post.
This moves Isak to seven assists for both club and country this season, and Isak soon found the net with a stunning strike of his own from range. Watch both moments of quality below:

The moment came just after the hour mark: some sloppy play from Northern Ireland saw Isak recover the ball in the opposing third, before driving forward an unleashing a thunderous strike to beat Pierce Charles and grab his country’s fourth of the night.
Sweden’s fifth of the night was secured by substitute Anthony Elanga, showing just how potent and dangerous a possible pairing of the two Swedes could be if Newcastle were to ever revisit signing the Nottingham Forest ace.
Next stop: Brentford
After the rare misfire against Luxembourg, Tuesday night’s performance was exactly what Isak and Sweden’s players needed to restore some momentum for their returns to domestic football.
Eddie Howe will be immensely grateful Isak has returned without injury and over two and a half hours worth of game time accumulated over the international break.
Isak enjoys an excellent record against Brentford, the next side to visit St James’ Park when the Premier League season resumes in April, having bagged three goals and one assist in the four games he’s played against the Bees across the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
