After 6 Years, An Iconic Delisted Steam Game Is Finally Returning

While the era of digital gaming on Steam has plenty of perks, one massive downside is the inevitable delisting of some games. Delisting is especially painful when it happens to games that never had physical releases, like the offbeat 2010 title Poker Night at the Inventory. This classic departed Steam in 2019, but against all odds, it’s finally making a comeback.

Skunkape Games announced in a YouTube trailer that Poker Night at the Inventory will come to Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PS4 on March 5, 2026. The announcement trailer highlights Poker Night at the Inventory‘s eclectic cast of characters, which includes Homestar Runner‘s Strong Bad, Sam & Max‘s Max, Penny Arcade‘s Tycho, and Team Fortress 2‘s The Heavy.

Including Some Improvements

The Steam page for Poker Night at the Inventory clarifies that the new release is more than a simple remaster. Aside from a visual upgrade, the “original poker code” has been rebuilt to support “a far more accurate game of poker,” with opponents making “informed decisions that better fit their play style and personality.”

Poker Night at the Inventory‘s original delisting was a blow to many fans, but it wasn’t necessarily a huge surprise. Developer Telltale Games essentially closed in 2018 before reopening in 2019, and combined with the complex nature of licensing several characters from other sources, Poker Night at the Inventory was a logical casualty.

The Future Is Bright For Poker Night Fans

The Cards Are In Our Favor

Skunkape, the studio behind the re-release, is essentially a modern heir to classic Telltale led by former developers from the studio. Skunkape previously acquired Telltale’s Sam & Max games, which may have solved one of the potential rights issues behind bringing Poker Night at the Inventory to modern storefronts.

Unfortunately, Skunkape has only revealed one Poker Night re-release, so there’s no indication that Poker Night 2 is coming back. The sequel shook up the cast, swapping Max for Sam and bringing in Borderlands 2‘s Claptrap, The Venture Bros.‘s Brock Samson, and The Evil Dead‘s Ash. Poker Night 2 was delisted in 2018, months before the original Poker Night at the Inventory made its exit.

There’s no point looking a gift horse in the mouth, though, and it’s great to have the series back in any form. Poker Night at the Inventory was never a mind-blowing Steam game, but even in 2026, there might be no better way to kick back and relax with some casual card games and a few memorable characters.
