AC Milan sporting director Tare: “Pulisic has a central role in this group”

Christian Pulisic has yet to put pen to paper on a new AC Milan contract, but sporting director Igli Tare remains very excited about the American’s future at the club.

Pulisic is coming off of his best season for the Rossoneri, scoring 17 goals and adding 12 assists in 50 appearances. Despite Pulisic’s best efforts, AC Milan missed out on a top-six finish, ruling them out of European competitions for the 2025-26 season.

After delivering two impressive seasons in the Red and Black of AC Milan, Pulisic looked set to sign a contract extension until 2029, which would make him one of the longest-tenured players in the squad. However, Pulisic and his representatives reportedly asked for time before signing, which has led to speculation regarding the 26-year-old’s long-term future in Italy.

Although Pulisic didn’t sign his extension, Tare expects big things from Pulisic in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad this fall.

“Pulisic will be a key player for the next Milan season,” Tare said in an interview with Italian media, transcribed by local outlet Sempre Milan. I’ll have the chance to discuss the renewal topic with [AC Milan chief executive officer] Giorgio [Furlani] at the right time. Christian has a central role in this group”

Pulisic is currently on summer break after not being part of the U.S. men’s national team’s CONCACAF Gold Cup roster. The USMNT star received ample criticism for wanting to only play in the program’s pair of June friendlies (losses to Switzerland and Turkey) before departing ahead of the Gold Cup group stage.

AC Milan opens its new Serie A campaign against Cremonese on August 23. Prior to that, Pulisic will revisit his old stomping grounds as the Rossoneri faces EPL side Chelsea on Aug. 10 in a friendly at Stamford Bridge.
