A great chance of delivering progress with new CEO and Sporting Director – Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe has been talking about the state of the club, now that Darren Eales and Paul Mitchell have been replaced by David Hopkinson and Ross Wilson respectively.

The Head Coach believing that there is now a great chance of delivering progress with the new appointments.

Eddie Howe declaring; “I think we have got a strong group of people who are very ambitious and determined to try and take everything forward.”

Looking from the outside at the new NUFC CEO, with the CV David Hopkinson has, he looks a major upgrade on Darren Eales.

As for the Newcastle United Sporting Director position, from almost the very start when Eales brought in his mate Paul Mitchell, it felt like a very poor fit, to say the least! Especially when it emerged that the Newcastle United hierarchy hadn’t even consulted Eddie Howe about bringing in Mitchell.

All very different this time, with Eddie Howe part of the process that made the Ross Wilson decision and Howe already having a positive relationship with Wilson.

It would be nice to think that both Ross Wilson and David Hopkinson will still be with Newcastle United in five years (and more) time, proving a success in helping to make serious progress on and off the pitch.

Eddie Howe talking about David Hopkinson and Ross Wilson having replaced Darren Eales and Paul Mitchell:

“I am really happy with the appointments that have been made.

“Really happy with how everything looks behind the scenes at the club.

“I think we have got a strong group of people who are very ambitious and determined to try and take everything forward.

“All I ever ask for is support.

“Help to try and take the leaps forward that we need.

“And we need that…because every other club is so progressive, we need to be the same.

“I think we have got a good chance of delivering that now.

“We have dynamic leadership and so hopefully we can benefit from that throughout the football club.

“I have known Ross Wilson for a number of years.

“He has been around the game for a long time and done well from the outside.

“Working with him now, it will be interesting to see how our relationship develops.

“My first impressions of him and his work are very good.

“He seems a positive person, a good person.

“I back Ross’ appointment and I hope we can work together well and have success.

“I think Ross will be a great addition.”
