Reprising his role from the first two movies, Ted Lasso and SNL alum Jason Sudeikis will once again be voicing Red, the cardinal with anger issues who helped save the eggs from the pigs in the first movie. Red’s return in the threequel gives him a chance to build upon his character development in the first sequel.
Also reprising his role from the cast of The Angry Birds Movie and its sequel is Frozen‘s Josh Gad who is back to lend his voice to Red’s sidekick, Chuck. Though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, The Angry Birds Movie 3 will likely involve Red and his friends embarking on another adventure to rescue the eggs, but it will need to introduce other wrinkles to keep from being a stale rehash of the 2016 film. The threequel also has the chance to build upon the character development Red went through in the first two movies and finally pay off his arc. Red began as an angry young man, and though he was a hero by the conclusion of the first movie, the sequel showed he still craved validation from external sources.
