The Taylor Sheridan movie, Fast, has been in the news since 2018. First reported on by Variety way back in October of that year, the thriller was announced with Guardians of the Galaxy star, Chris Pratt, set to star in it. As time went on, Gavin O’Connor was brought on to direct the film (that Sheridan himself initially planned to helm himself) as of February 2019. But since then, the Yellowstone creator — who has approximately 1,152 other series in production (we joke, but it’s a lot) — has let the film fall to the wayside of importance. Until now, it seems.
According to Daniel Richtman (by way of The Direct), the Wind River director and his production partner, Warner Brothers, are eyeing bringing on a younger, more up-and-coming talent to replace Pratt in the lead role. And who is that actor? None other than one of his own from the extended Yellowstone universe, 1923‘s Brandon Sklenar, who has been in the news a lot of late thanks to his role in the controversial film It Ends With Us.

While Taylor Sheridan’s hit series ‘Yellowstone’ expands into more spin-offs, here’s a guide to help fans keep up since its ‘1923’ Season 2 debut.
None of this has been confirmed by anyone involved, for the record. But if you are curious to know more about the forthcoming film, keep reading!
Taylor Sheridan’s Next Film Will Allegedly Center On A DEA Agent Taking Down Major Drug Dealers
The upcoming film is said to focus on the life of an ex-Marine turned DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) agent who runs illegal operations to take down big-time drug dealers. Pratt was initially tied to the role, but given the six years that have passed since first being announced in the role, there are plenty of reasons why he may need to exit the film.
Depending on whom this ex-Marine is, Pratt may have simply aged out of the role. If this character is, say, new on the scene or new to the DEA gig, someone Pratt’s age (45) may not exactly make sense. Of course, age may not be a factor — but money may. When Fast was initially reported on, it was said to have a budget of $70-80 million. If that is still the case, Pratt may be too expensive to keep on. After all, he has only become a bigger star since 2018, no doubt making his quote/rate of pay large enough that it would eat up too much of the budget.
There may be personal reasons involved as well, but we’re certainly not going to speculate on any of that stuff. But bringing in Sklenar, who has worked on 13 episodes of the Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford-starring Sheridan series 1923, makes a lot of sense. Not only has Sheridan worked with Sklenar before, he’s also having a moment. In addition to co-starring in Emily the Criminal alongside Aubrey Plaza, Sklenar has also had roles in The Offer, Westworld, and Walker: Independence. He can also currently be seen in It Ends With Us and Drop with Meghann Fahy. He’s also slated to star in Paul Feig’s upcoming The Housemaid alongside Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney, based on the Freida McFadden novel of the same name.
