Titane, Julia Ducournau’s bizarre “vehicle horror” film from 2021, is coming to free streaming soon. Starting February 16, fans of the weird will be able to stream Titane on Tubi.
They will only have to endure the occasional interruption of ads, although, with Titane, it’s safe to say that you will probably need to take a break. Yes, it is that shocking.
In Titane, Agathe Rousselle gives life to Alexia, a model who works at a motor show as an exotic dancer. Her hair conceals a large scar on the side of her head, which is due to a metal plate that was installed after a car crash she was involved in when she was just a child. Alexia is a beautiful woman who draws the attention of car fanatics, and one of them tries to assault her. When Alexia fights back and brutally murders him, she celebrates by getting inside a Cadillac and… we will let you find that out for yourself if you dare venture into this dark and disturbing movie.
Titane has a point, and the film isn’t just a steamy and mindless version of Maximum Overdrive. We’ll just let you find out for yourself as the movie progresses into quite a weird story about human affection. Titane won the Palme d’Or at the 2021 version of the Cannes Film Festival. It was acclaimed by audiences and critics, and to this day, it holds a Certified Fresh 90% score on the Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes. The Popcornmeter, aka the audience score, registers 85% at the time of writing.
A New Body Horror Visionary
When Ducournau presented her feature directorial debut, audiences witnessed the arrival of a filmmaker who would bend the rules enough to make people very uncomfortable. Even the ones in the horror community admitted that 2016’s Raw took things a bit too far when its lead character tasted meat for the first time and indulged in some pretty graphic ways to satisfy herself. Ducournau’s film was unconventionally violent and unnverving. Everyone started to think about what she would do next.
Titane’s concept of blending body horror with a bizarre approach to desire was offensive and outlandish but extremely original. The director proved that conventions definitely didn’t apply, but she could still give a solid emotional backdrop to characters with broken morals but who were engaging nonetheless.

Here Are 5 Things That Make Titane the Weirdest Movie of 2021
There were some strange films in 2021, but none so much as the techno-horror, queer sci-fi serial killer dramedy, Titane.
Ducournau will next helm the project known as Alpha. Distributed by Neon (the same marketing geniuses behind 2024’s Longlegs and 2025’s The Monkey), Alpha takes place in the ’80s and tells the story of a teenager whose classmates begin spreading the rumor that she has been infected with a rare disease. Judging by this, it’s safe to say that Ducournau will once again tackle body horror themes in the same fashion she has used previously, and which has earned her the title of a modern body horror master.
Other titles that will be added to Tubi in February include Liam Neeson’s action features Run All Night and Taken, the romantic comedy The Holiday, and Halle Berry’s Monster’s Ball. However, if you want to stick to the horror realm, Tubi will also have Stephen King’s The Boogeyman and Misery, both versions of The Amityville Horror, and the werewolf horror comedy The Wolf of Snow Hollow.
