One of the best action-comedies of last year has now crashed into the #1 spot on Prime Video
. From real-life stuntman and director David Leitch, the blockbuster director of Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, The Fall Guy
stars Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Stephanie Hsu, and Winston Duke. Loosely based on the 1980s TV series of the same name, you can check out the official synopsis for the movie below.
“He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?”
The Fall Guy was met with positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike, and now sits at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an even better 85% on the Popcornmeter. MovieWeb’s own Julian Roman found a lot to enjoy, calling The Fall Guy “A Spectacular Start to the Summer Movie Season,” and saying, “The Fall Guy revs the summer box office into high gear with a clever action-comedy that’s sure to delight audiences.”
Ryan Gosling Is Ready & Waiting for ‘The Fall Guy 2’
Ryan Gosling
is ready to put himself in harms way all over again in The Fall Guy 2, with the Academy Award nominee revealing that they have already planned out what happens to his seasoned stuntman Colt Seavers and after the credits roll. Not only that, but it seems that the follow-up largely “wrote itself,” with Gosling declaring that he and the rest of the creative team already know the story for the sequel “intimately.” He said to Fast Company in May last year…
“Oh yeah. We already – I mean, we love these characters so much that we wanted to know, just for ourselves, what happens to Colt and [Emily Blunt’s character] Jody after the movie ends? What’s the next phase for them? And we know exactly what it is. So hopefully the audience wants to know, too.
The sequel sort of wrote itself. We already know [the story] intimately. We’re just hoping that people like this movie enough that we get to keep telling the story of these characters. We love them so much, and we love this world, and I feel confident that we can do it.”
