The slate of original Netflix films gets bigger every year, and they have no fewer than nine new Christmas originals out in time for the 2024 holiday season. With a huge range of styles and genres, from animated family features to a biblical epic, Netflix is offering something for everybody this festive period.

The nine brand-new Christmas adventures on offer from Netflix this year feature a number of big names, including Jason Bateman, Brian Cox, Taron Egerton, Nicole Kidman, Nathan Lane, John Lithgow, Lindsay Lohan, Tim Meadows, Dustin Milligan, Bill Nighy, Rachel Zegler — and even an appearance from a cappella group Pentatonix. Netflix has certainly brought home a heap of Christmas gifts this holiday season, and it’s a delightfully eclectic and wide range of stories.

Christina Milian stars in and executive produces this heartwarming rom-com which follows her character, Layla, as she balances her love for Kofi Siriboe’s James with her feelings for Teddy, played by Devale Ellis. Meet Me Next Christmas has a number of moments to watch out for. Pentatonix appear, playing fictionalized versions of themselves, and they’re clearly thoroughly enjoying themselves. Additionally, Milian herself gets a wonderful opportunity for a dance number and excels. For a light-hearted and music-filled Christmas treat, Meet Me Next Christmas ticks all the boxes.

While Meet Me Next Christmas is a rom-com for people who want something soft, gentle, and mostly grounded, Hot Frosty is for viewers who like their Christmas romantic comedies injected with a healthy dose of fantastical whimsy (or downright silliness). Starring Lacey Chabert as grieving widow Kathy, the movie follows her relationship with Dustin Milligan’s Jack — a man who looks strikingly similar to an ice sculpture.

But Our Little Secret has a fun set-up — two exes struggling to spend the holidays together with someone else’s family after they discover that their current partners are siblings. Starring Lindsay Lohan as Avery, this movie is certainly more “comedy” than “romantic,” with a brilliant supporting performance from SNL’s Tim Meadows. This is also a joyous reunion for Lohan and Meadows, who previously shared the screen in Mean Girls. Our Little Secret is a great look at just how awkward a family Christmas can really be.

That Christmas is stuffed with fast-paced jokes and is animated gorgeously — unsurprising when director Simon Otto cut his teeth on the How to Train Your Dragon series. Following Mary on the run from Anthony Hopkins’ Herod, Mary has action, drama, emotion, and holds nothing back.

Carry-On stars Taron Egerton (showing off his darker side) as a TSA officer who’s blackmailed by Jason Bateman’s character into smuggling a package onto a flight — all on Christmas Eve. Following the likes of Mary and The Snow Sister as a side-step from the family-friendly festive treats, Carry-On follows more in the footsteps of Die Hard than Home Alone. With lush production design and stellar direction, this could well be the new standout holiday thriller.
