Jason Statham & Vin Diesel’s Action Team-Up ‘Fast X’ Drives Onto Streaming

Jason Statham & Vin Diesel’s Action Team-Up ‘Fast X’ Drives Onto Streaming

When two of the biggest action stars currently working reunite, you get one of the biggest and highest-grossing action movies of the decade. Vin Diesel and Jason Statham have long been staples of the action genre, and their union in Fast & Furious 6 felt like a genre match made in heaven. They reunited again for Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and F9. But it’s their latest team-up, which just landed on a new streaming home. So this is your excuse to binge-watch the entire franchise… again.

After grossing almost $715 million at the global box office, Fast X has driven onto a new streaming platform. As the title suggests, it’s the 10th movie in the Fast & Furious franchise… or the 11th if you count Tokyo Drift (sometimes, the Fast & Furious series is more confusing than the MCU timeline). Vin Diesel and his increasingly large family are back, defying gravity in overly expensive cars once again. This time, they’re doing it on Peacock.

Fast X sees the entire family face off against their toughest foe yet — even though every foe has subsequently been their toughest yet — with deep ties to Dom Torreto’s past. Not sparing any change from the movie’s casting budget (the film already features Alan Ritchson, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Michael Rooker, Scott Eastwood, Michelle Rodriguez, Brie Larson, Helen Mirren, Ludacris, and Dwayne Johnson), none other than Jason Momoa plays the evil villain, Dante Reyes. Statham reprises his long-running role as Deckard Shaw.

What’s Going on With ‘Fast 11’?

Fast X was released in 2023. Three years later, Fast & Furious fans are still left twiddling their thumbs waiting for the sequel. The ending of Fast X sets up the Toretto family for one last mission. It has already been announced that Fast 11 will be the last movie in the franchise (at least, the last movie in the core franchise).

Currently titled Fast Forever, the 11th movie has been greenlit. But production is taking a surprisingly long time on the sequel. At least the movie has a prospective release date. At the time of writing, Fast Forever will release in theaters on March 17, 2028. The official cast hasn’t been announced yet. But the entire family (including Jason Statham) is expected to return for the final outing of the Toretto extended family.

The ‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise Is Coming to an End… Kind Of

Universal Pictures

We previously mentioned that Fast Forever will be the last movie in the core franchise. What began in 2001 as a grounded crime thriller about street racing has transformed into a multi-billion dollar franchise where supercars drive up falling skyscrapers and chase submarines in the Arctic. Fast X will bring the Toretto story to an end. But it’s not the end for the entire franchise. 2019’s hit spin-off Hobbs and Shaw has already been greenlit for a sequel. Details about the follow-up movie are scarce, but expect a few familiar faces to appear in that film.
