According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona hope to receive approval this week from the City Council in order to obtain the license corresponding to Phase 1C, which would increase the Spotify Camp Nou capacity from the current 45,401 spectators to 62,000.
Within the club, efforts have been ongoing for some time to reach this stage so that the stadium presents a full image without empty seats.
There is optimism that the license will be granted in time for the match on Sunday, March 15, when Barcelona face Sevilla, a date that also coincides with the presidential elections at the club.
At Barça, they expect news from the City Council between Monday and Tuesday, since the club must also process the 14,000 season tickets available for members in the Gol Nord area.
Once the club receives the approval for license 1C, it will give members 24 hours for those who have not yet requested their seat to submit their applications.
The price of these season tickets will range between €160 and €264. If demand exceeds the available seats, the club will conduct a draw among the applicants.
At the City Council, officials have remained cautious and have not provided a timeline for when the license 1C will be granted to allow the occupation of the Gol Nord section of the Spotify Camp Nou.
Despite this lack of official deadlines, the atmosphere inside the Barcelona offices is optimistic that the situation will soon be resolved.
At the same time, work is also being carried out so that the Grada d’Animació (fans’ cheering group) can settle into its designated area in the Gol Sur with 1,247 places.
During the Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid, a corner section with 750 supporters was enabled in an attempt to push the team toward a comeback, although the group was still unable to occupy its designated zone in the renamed Gol 1957.
These procedures follow a different administrative path from the license 1C. The access points in that area must be secured and adapted, and all supporters entering the section must be properly identified.
