Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to the media following the Giallorossi’s defeat at the Marassi to De Rossi’s Genoa.
Gasperini began the interview by discussing the match: “They set up the game in a way that made it very difficult for us to play. We responded well. We created more chances than them, but the penalty incident complicated things even more.”
“We weren’t behind at all. It’s not a very positive moment, but we’re not coming away from this match diminished.”
The Roma coach then continued on Venturino: “It wasn’t the match for his characteristics because we played a lot of high balls. He will certainly help us a lot.”
The former Atalanta player also addressed the potential penalty for Malinovsky’s handball: “I don’t know why VAR didn’t intervene, the picture is pretty clear.”
Concluding, Gasperini said: “Every match has its own story. In today’s game, Svilar was never involved. There were just a few scrambles. I think we adapted well to the game. After the 1-1 draw, we had more dangerous situations, but then one incident, like a sideline ball reversed into a goal, and the game gets complicated.”
“The defense risked practically nothing. The team’s spirit is extraordinary. We need to get to the break where we are.”
