Barcelona have named their playing squad who will travel to face Newcastle United.
The Champions League match fast approaching.
The first leg of the last 16 tie, St James’ Park hosting Newcastle v Barcelona.
On Saturday, Newcastle United exited the FA Cup with a 3-1 home defeat to Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Barcelona travelled to Bilbao and won 1-0 against Athletic Club, thanks to a 68th minute Yamal goal.
Sunday morning now seeing Barcelona officially announce this squad that will travel to Tyneside:
Goalkeepers
Juan Garcia, Szczesny, Kocine
Defenders
João Cancelo, Ronald Araújo, Pau Cubarsi, Gerard Martin, Eric Garcia, Cortés, Xavi Espart
Midfielders
Gavi, Pedri, Fermín López, Marc Casadó, Dani Olmo, Marc Bernal, Tomy
Attackers
Ferran Torres, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Marcus Rashford, Roony Bardghji
Missing from the travelling squad are the likes of Andreas Christensen, Frenkie De Jong, Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde.
Whilst Gavi is named in the squad for this Champions League match, Barcelona say that he hasn’t as yet been cleared to play by the medical staff.
Gavi has been missing due to injury for a long time and before the Athletic Club match, Barcelona boss Hansi Flick said: “He will travel with us, he will be training with us, but he isn’t ready to play. Maybe after the next international break. We’ll see.”
Marc Bernal was substituted at half-time against Athletic Club but is still expected to travel. After Saturday’s game it was revealed he is suffering from a stomach upset.
